According to Jorge Castillo of the Star Ledger, if David Wright is ready for Opening Day and Daniel Murphy is not, Justin Turner could start at second base.
Jordany Valdespin, instead of starting at second, could start in center field, over Collin Cowgill.
On Wednesday, Wright told reporters his strained intercostal muscle is feeling better and his goal remains to play on Opening Day.
However, Murphy remains sidelined with stiffness in his side. He strained his intercostal muscle in mid-February and has not played in a Grapefruit League game this spring.
Earlier this week, Collins told reporters Murphy will have to start playing by this weekend, otherwise he could open the season on the disabled list.
