Juan Lagares to take live batting practice Monday

Juan Lagares is set to take live batting practice on Monday in Port St. Lucie as he continues to work his way back from a strained right intercostal (Santucci, June 16).

Lagares recently began running, throwing, and hitting from a tee, but has not yet been deemed ready for rehab games.

Taking live batting practice is another step in the right direction for Lagares, who was placed on the disabled list on June 2.

Lagares has hit .295/.337/.429 for the Mets in 2014 in 172 plate appearances spanning 42 games.

Seems like the guy hasn't been playing for months. Let's just hope he's not terminally brittle. I cannot watch this parade of quadruple A mediocrities.

He took a pretty solid mirror-selfie this morning, so looks like everything is going well.

Lagares is actually hitting .295/.337/.429 now. MLB changed an error from his last game into a single.
