Juan Lagares cuts 1a

Juan Lagares played in a rehab game Friday

Juan Lagares was hitless in four at-bats, while playing seven innings in center field, during a rehab game with the Gulf Coast League Mets in Port St. Lucie on Friday.

Lagares has been on disabled list since June 2 with a strained intercostal muscle on his right side.

Multiple reports this week have said he is expected to return from the disabled list next week at Citi Field.

You just  cannot have offense like this and expect any type of long winning streak..

yes the Marlins have not been scoring either so far these first two games, but overall the Marlins offense is a hell of a lot better this year than the Mets...teams go into funks...mets have been in a season ling funk

I am pretty confident that I can strike out Tejada lol

I would choose Furcal...could not be worse

5 minutes til first pitch and still no post about tonight's game?  They must have tasked this site's proofreaders with that job tonight....

I would trade almost anyone and their mother for Stanton

Kenneth Meltsner

0-4. That instantly makes him our biggest offensive threat.

Slow and easy. Early batting practice with the team. Then looking at film. More batting practice. Substitute center fielder late in the game and he'll be set for full-time.

Does his impending return, turn Chris Young into "dead man walking"?

I didn't know he had a drug problem!

We need this man in the worst way in our lineup.  Then we can have speed at the top of the lineup:

LF - E Young JR

CF - Lagares

2B - Murphy

3B - Wright

RF - Granderson

1B - Duda

SS - Flores

C - d'Arnaud

Good bye Chris Young, don't let the door hit you in the Arse!!!

Not needed. Just call it the same for both sides.

Seems he's limping a tad

@MyIdolSeaver He'll just be another pretty trophy for TC to cement on the bench,as he has done with Flores & Campbell. Really, what's the point of bringing these rookies up to the ML team if TC is  not going to play them regularly?.

@Joe Wenzel Im a big Kirk fan and its so frustrating that he can't figure it out up here, hes got speed power and hes an above average outfielder

jonlga

Where would he play?

brrrandooo

@Joe Wenzel I thought with the righty he'd play, and honestly he may have had that ball in the first

Early in the game, have faith, we should get a hit or two by the 8th

Didn't shy away on that that was a legit hit maybe a younger guy gets it however

Is anyone home to post the lineup and game post Cerrone?

hankypanky

Does that include Wheeler and Gee in a package?

Good question. Why hasn't anyone kept score on Alderson's alleged 'promise' to CY for a minimum number of at-bats? Once that number is reached, does that mean Alderson is longer honor-bound to keep CY on the team? Only Alderson knows what his intentions are. It's a complete mystery to everyone else.

Too high on the wall for anyone except someone 6'9" or so

@gpopper I think the Mets were talking to him too but once he asked for a major league deal, Mets passed

@hankypanky To me, Yes...

You would still have a solid 4 in Harvey, Thor, Niese and Degrom...you have Montero...and they can always go out there and bring in another pitcher....a guy like Stanton only comes once in a lifetime...I would tell them..here is our roster...take your pick within reason...

Let you know how far I would go...I am the biggest supporter of Juan Lagares...I think he is a stud CF...he would be available too...

@Eric Hack @Father Dooley As Herman Munster would say:

"Darn, Darn, Darn, Darn, Darn, Darn, Darn!!!!"

If he was playing, he'd probably be in CF, and Grandy would be in RF. Kirk's likely not here for long anyway.

Why not? Then our entire outfield can be hitting under .230.

I believe you're right.

They're late today. Maybe It's happy hour at Pizza Hut

I gotta agree...he would cost a lot but it would be worth it....there is nobody in the organization that I wouldn't trade

Eric Hack

@Father Dooley Do you think he is playing because of the .333 on base pct last night. He was intentionally walked for the pitcher to hit.

jonlga
jonlga

He hits which only a couple of our guys can do.

jonlga
jonlga

Flores? He's not a shortstop. He's been tried at other positions because he's not a fielder. Why is this difficult for you? They want defense at short. Or are we referring to Nieuwenheis?

jonlga
jonlga

Nieuwenheis is a .220 hitter and has been one since May of 2012. He started fast then faded badly.
