Juan Lagares cuts 1a

Juan Lagares played a full game in CF, expected back next week

Mets OF Juan Lagares was hitless in four at-bats, while playing the whole game in center field Saturday, during his second rehab game with the Gulf Coast League Mets.

He was hitless in his first rehab game as well, while playing seven innings in the field.

Lagares had been hitting .295 with 15 extra base hits and 17 RBI in 42 games before going on the disabled list with an intercostal muscle strain on his right side.

He is expected to rejoin the Mets at some point next week.

By the ground outs/popups in the GCL (Rookie level) Jaun needs several more days of live pitching, hopefully at AA/AAA to see some better pitchin', though he's hitless in the GCL, can't be much worse! That's about par for the big league team though...

TC should play him in center, not on the bench.

Lagares has been out of action even swinging a bat for awhile now with the rib cage injury. I hope they leave him down long enough to get back in the swing of things pun intended. I fear if they bring him up too soon and he puts up a few 0fers his 1st few games back TC is going to bench him because the team needs more offense and we'll be right back to where we were before with him sitting for the likes of the Youngs and now Abreu as well.

I am hoping (I know it is probably about 20-30% chance) that Lagares is activated for Wednesday's game!  d'Arnaud is supposed to be called back up by Tuesday, and I will be at the game Wednesday!  I want to see d'Arnaud & of course Lagares, who has become my favorite Met player!

I hope this means Chris Young is expected GONE by next week.

@Joe Paulson @getalife  I'm sure that's what the Mets hope is as well which is why they won't even seriously consider releasing him until after the trade deadline at the earliest

@owlnut @Joe Paulson @getalife  That's easy for you to say when you're not the one footing the bill. I think there's no way they do it until after the trading deadline at the earliest. It's not like Kirk is likely to provide this team with much more than CY will anyway. At least CY is a has been who's had some real success at the MLB level in the past with a slight chance to rediscover some of it while Kirk is a never was in the majors who most likely never will.

Kirk and DenDecker provide more or the same than CY, and potential but most of all they are cheap. If you can send CY to the mminors..... Do so and see if he can find it but in reality......DFA is the move.
