Juan Lagares 3 (Baron)

Juan Lagares not close to returning from DL

Juan Lagares has not started running as he continues his rehab in Port St Lucie, Terry Collins said Saturday.

The Mets put Lagares on the disabled list six days ago with a strained intercostal muscle.

According to Collins, Lagares is still only doing light exercises and he will not be activated from the disabled list when first eligible.

This is TC's fault - playing Lagares 2 days after the injury.

Speaking of the DL, where is Gary Cohen?

The good side of this:

This finally affords Matt dD the opportunity to display his wares that was denied to him last season when he tore his wheels up in Spring Training -- the very injury which gave Juan HIS opportunity, which he made the most of by making us all go ooh & aaah.

Now, Matt gets the chance to show us what HE's got, over an extended period of time.

I'm hoping that BOTH of them can hit enough eventually to nail down two defensive "no-fly-zones" in the Mets' OF.

Which would leave EY as the bench player he's best suited for, Abreu in the part of PH Extraordinaire Rusty Staub & CY somewhere, anywhere other than NYC.

Intercostal take forever.  Hurt mine playing golf and couldn't sleep for a month.  Then it just lingered for a long time.  Reinjured very easily hitting balls at the range.

PEDs are often tied to these types of injuries and Juan has bulked up this year.

Lagares going down didn't exactly help this team either. At least d'Arnaud is gone now.

As I predicted when they said 2 weeks, rib cage strains are 1-2 months.

No way he's back before the All Star Break. These ribs cage injury take forever to heal properly. And reinjury is very common with this injury and seemingly with any injury on the Mets so that'd be doubly so here. So if he tries to come back too soon he could easily be out till Aug or later or be back for a week or 2 and wind up right back on the DL

Maybe we took the boot off his foot too soon.  Better put it back on for another 2 weeks.

Yeah...listening to Kevin is rough. He was surprisingly good on football last season but his play by play for baseball is just atrocious.

He has the habit of filling the empty spots with ramblings just to fill time or something...but they're so often run. He was babbling about Brandon Crawford being in there for his bat. Ummm...no. He's a hideous hitter who's had 3 good games vs us. Sheesh.

@metjetnet   Matt dD does not have the power that Juan has, nor does he have a strong arm like Juan has.   I feel Matt is a political move. I agree with Doubleday, TC

should not have played Juan 2 days after the injury, but maybe politics told TC figure out a way for Matt to be able to play.  The Mets don't  know how to

keep good players.  a good example is Carlos Gomez, & Angel Pagan.  God bless them both they are doing great.

Another thing Matt does not have the ACCURACY WHEN THROWING A BALL.   SO JUAN HURRY BACK IN GOOD HEALTH.
