Juan Lagares takes a swing 1

Juan Lagares back in the lineup, starting in CF

In his first game back from the disabled list, Juan Lagares will start in center field and bat sixth tonight for the Mets.

The Mets activated Lagares after Wednesday’s game, while sending Wilmer Flores back to Triple-A.

Lagares played in 42 games this year prior to his most recent trip to the disabled list for a right intercostal injury.

In 172 plate appearances this season, he’s batting .295 with a .337 OBP, 15 extra base hits and 18 RBI.

For those Ruben detractors, you take Tulo, Asdrubal.Aybar;Jeter,Peralta,Hardy, Reyes and escobar apart then out of the rest Tejada competes hand on hand with any SS in both leagues.!!!

We are trying to have as many outfielders as the knicks have guards right now

For the people who wanted Cargo. He's got a bum finger and a bum knee. He needed surgery to remove a non-malignant tumor from his finger. I don't believe anybody knows exactly when he'll be able to grip the bat.

Lagares is the Mets' best non-pitcher prospect in some time.

Please, please Terry - start Lagares in centerfield and leave him there for the rest of the season. It has been a very long time since the Mets farm system has developed a solid true outfielder, let alone a defensively-gifted centerfielder.

The two Youngs are not the future of the Mets - don't worry about hurting their feelings.

It's good to see him back, but was he a bit rushed?  Did he even get a hit in the rehab games?

Welcome back, Juan. Remember, Fred and Jeff felt your pain.

Hope management has a deal in place for a SS. Some roster; you have 6 Outfielders (counting Campbell) 1 below par SS. How does that make sense?

Good. We need him back in center and Flores needed to go to AAA.

Tejada is hitting .286 over the past month. His OBP is .400. That's not good enough?

He's hitting .184 away from Coors and is a lifetime .132 hitter at Citifield. Why would we want him?

Exactly, if Tejada can continue this at the plate while playing average to above average defense, he ain't the problem

@theglider  Cause hes like the only bat available  at the deadline...To increase payroll

@citifield @Eddie_Dean No, I mean it depends on what the Mets have to give up to get him.

Sorry, I should've been clearer on that.

So let's get him even if he can't hit at Citi. Sure.

@citifield Hmmm...I'd have to think about that one. I lean toward not doing it, but it's a slight lean.

If he can't hit in our park then why do we want him?
