Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro told Jayson Stark of ESPN.com: “I never talk about free agents, but you can quote me on this. If he was in the Continental in Philly, I have no knowledge of it. I don’t even know if he was there. But if he was, I have no knowledge of it.”
Furthermore, additional Phillies officials debunked the notion that Reyes was in town to be courted by the team by calling the idea “absolutely nuts” and adding that Reyes’ name hasn’t come up in their offices in the last two months.

Jose Reyes was in Philadelphia on Tuesday, according to Philadelphia Daily News.
However, ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark says the visit had nothing to do with the Phillies, since they do not currently have Reyes on their radar. Stark later intimated on Twitter that the Phillies do not currently have the budget to dish out another $100 million contract.
The local Daily News later said Reyes was in town to visit his daughter, while noting that the entire Phillies organization was at a funeral.
