Jon Niese left tonight’s game against the Dodgers after getting hit on the right leg by a come backer by Mark Ellis in the top of the third inning.
X-rays taken on Niese’s leg were negative. He is listed as day-to-day.
10:55 pm: Terry Collins said after the game that he expects Niese to make his next start.
“He got hit between the ankle bone and the achilles tendon basically,” Terry Collins told reporters after the game. “The fear was when he couldn’t move his foot when we went out there. Obviously he’s fine and he’s walking around. He’s getting better as the night goes along. He’ll be okay.”
Robert Carston replaced Niese with a runner at first and one out in the third inning.
Niese allowed a run on three hits with three walks in 2 1/3 innings before leaving the game.
