Terry Collins told reporters Jeurys Familia will start in the Dominican Winter League during the off-season.

Originally, Familia was to serve as a reliever, but his team would like him to start.

As such, Familia’s appearances will be limited this winter.

Familia started for the first time in the Major Leagues last night – he allowed six walks in four innings. He went 9-9 with a 4.73 ERA in 28 starts for Triple-A Buffalo this season. He allowed 72 earned runs, 145 hits, 73 walks and eight home runs in 137 innings.
