Jeurys Familia rebounded nicely from Monday’s rough outing

In Monday’s loss to the Giants, Mets reliever Jeurys Familia blew a save, giving up two hits and two walks.

Last night, he returned and pitched a scoreless eighth inning against the Nationals.

“It was big, it was huge for him,” Terry Collins said after the game, noting he and Dan Warthen had every intention of getting Familia in a game Tuesday to help him move past his difficult Monday. “Fortunately we had the opportunity and he did what he had to do.”

At the beginning of the season there were two guys on here having a pretend internet tough guy pretend war. I had a few words with one of them, but left because I realized that for both of them this was it. This was all they have to look forward to every day. Acting like a tough guy on Metsblog is their life and it's extremely sad to me that people think pretending to be tough online is actually being a tough guy....so I left...until a few weeks ago....now that I'm back I find it even more pathetic that they're still at it and that  one of them at least, can delete comments. That proves  two things...they are related to, are  or know Matt because anyone else world be banned from any sight for the racist stuff they say...and that they, if it's actually two separate people ( I have strong doubts about it not being one person with multiple accounts) are pathetic

Good to see kirk in the lineup, frustrating that wilmer can't get in there on his birthday nonetheless, LGM and lets sweep the nats

This makes no sense to me.  With a 5 run lead, you couldn't give the guy a night off?  Like he was going to fall apart mentally because he gave up a run the night before?  Collins is so obviously managing for his life with total disregard to the health of Familia and Mejia.  Familia sounded perfectly rational after the blown hold.  There was no need to run him back out there with such a big lead when he is already being overused.

Here is an interesting question for everyone: what are the chances Chris Young will even be in the majors next year?

@nym68 I dont think they are the same person but I think one of them works for SNY.

I actually think Kirk's done okay this year. Better ball player at this stage than CY nonetheless. Excellent defensively in left field.

@hashburry was just typing how i didnt get to see last couple innings, why would they use him ina  6-1 game after using him the day before

Probably less than 50-50. Don't really care as long as he isn't a Met.

@jimmybxnyc You have clearly jumped the shark, which I guess is appropriate since shark week is coming.

@jimmybxnyc That's is a very long-winded excuse for being a disruptive jerk on this board.  If you think that justifies the things you write then you have more issues than anyone thought.  One doesn't fight racism with more racism.

@Mexpert @nym68 Whether it's one person, two, or fifteen...it doesn't matter. It's just unbelievably pathetic in every way. I get why it's funny to the person who sees it for the first time, but here we are in August and not only are they still "performing" for everyone, but they seem to have groupies. The kicker is that they also use the same material as they did in April. The stupid insults haven't even changed.."Clean my house".."Stupid Mexican"..blah blah blah. They're not even remotely funny or original...But they are racist and they have fans..so what do I know???

@mi @nym68 Right.  And he is the worst offender.  Although, he has posted under multiple usernames.  A couple of them do contain "jimmybx".

@mi @brrrandooo I'd still rather see kirk in there against a righty than anyone else we have on this team

@brrrandooo @nym68 I admit that I'm hung up on the birthday part of your statement. Him not playing on his birthday means nothing. we either want him to play or we don't. As for him, while I'm sure he'd like to play any day, I'm even more sure that he's just happy not being in AAA on his birthday

@surfcity Then why did he let Wheeler pitch that inning. and why wasnt Mejia in again. His logic is flawed.

@jimmybxnyc I do and I hardly work for Metsblog.  You insult everyone on this board if they have a difference of opinion from yours.  According to you, everyone is a racist, a bigot, a stupid woman, a moron, etc.  Maybe once you could try to have a conversation, or even a debate, and stick to the topic at hand.  Give it a shot.

This all assumes you are really jimmybx.  I have no way of knowing that.

@Mexpert @surfcity Hack, STFU.  You are Mr. Monday morning QB.  Why did you change your name?  Embarrassed by what you type?

@dminches lol, so simple minded, u bring someone in and see if they can get the first guy or 2 out..now our best reliever is out most likely tn in the biggest series of the year so far because we used him in not a 2 or 3 run game .. a 5 run game

Mexpert

@dminches You are quite the odd person I'm not sure who you think I am.

dminches

@mi @dminches These relievers are no longer trained to come in with runners on base.  How many times had JF or JM come in to start an inning?  Maybe 95%?  I didn't make this up.

@jimmybxnyc You said they post under 6 different names, I don't get what you mean by that.

@mi @brrrandooo yeah I mean it's unlikely that he does but until theres a legit option there, he does have a ton of upside if he suddenly did figure it out

@dminches @mi they hit a grandslam and were still up a run and u wanna burn him?

@dminches @mi u are still missing the point, vic black could have been used.. why do u wanna burn familia tonight in a 5 run game?

@mi @dminches I am not saying I would have put in JF, but I am not worked up over it.

Jimmy likes laughing at the handicapped. It shows you the kind of person you're conversing with.

By the way, I'm another of those six screen names.

@Mexpert @dminches Once you started talking about the Ankiel bridge you tipped your hand.  Nice try.  Plus, you still type like an 8th grader.

@theglider No way you are much dumber then the other 5. Handicapped is not an excuse for being a jerk.

@dminches  Ankiel was the worst signing in the history of this organization. You wish you had the brains of an 8th grader. You are 250lbs and 4'6".

Mexpert

@dminches Look Bay had a resume coming off a good couple of years. Ankiel was a known headcase steroid user and was striking out at insane rates. He had a great arm and could hit Hr's quite an athlete for a pitcher but he had 0 left when he was cut by the Astros.

anymos

@jimmybxnyc He doesn't have to try- you succeed quite well at being an obnoxious ass on your own accord.

dminches

@Mexpert @dminches I agree, but Alderson was trying to find anything to keep the team from being embarrassed.  And he had no money to spend.  Ankiel was the best one out there.  This is what happens when you tell your GM to field a team but do not give him any money.  The Wilpons are the ones to blame.

Mexpert
Mexpert

@dminches Wrong a good Gm would have embraced the opportunity to see Kirk and or Lagares. Just like now we cant win and we need to see Flores. That question shouldn't be debated on Mets blog give him 50 games and lets see. what have you got to lose a 220 Tejada?
