Yesterday in Surprise, Arizona, Jeurys Familia allowed a solo home run to Rangers’ prospect Brett Nicholas in the seventh inning of the 2013 Fall-Stars Game in the Arizona Fall League.
It was Nicholas’ second home run of the night – he earned the Fall-Stars Game MVP with two home runs and a single.
Familia has struggled with the Surprise Scorpions this fall, allowing five hits and four walks with five earned runs in only six innings over five relief appearances.
Familia made just nine relief appearances for the Mets during the regular season. He underwent surgery in early May to remove bone chips from his right elbow and did not return until late September.
