1:10 pm: Jenrry Mejia will throw a bullpen session Friday, at which time Terry Collins will determine whether Mejia can make his next start, the manager said Wednesday.
Mejia left Tuesday night’s game with a torn blister on the middle finger of his throwing hand.
The 24-year-old righty had given up two hits over five scoreless innings on the mound while striking out three and walking two before leaving the game.
6:10 am: He said after Tuesday’s game that it should not prevent him from making his next start. He said the same thing after his previous start against the Braves (Rivera, April 15).
“He’s got one helluva blister,” Terry Collins later said, noting that Mejia will get an extra day of rest between starts due to Thursday’s off day. “Obviously, there’s a concern.”
Mejia told reporters he wanted to stay in the game, but Dan Warthen insisted he pulled from the game to keep the blister from getting worse.
