Jenrry Mejia celebrates

Jenrry Mejia has calf issue, but can pitch Friday

Jenrry Mejia, who pitched a scoreless bottom of the 12th inning during Thursday’s loss, is dealing with a right calf issue.

Terry Collins said that Mejia is available to pitch on Friday, if needed.

Mejia completed the 12th inning, but was shown in the dugout between innings showing manager Terry Collins and others the calf on Thursday. After the game, Collins said that the issue was the reason why Mejia wasn’t sent out for the 13th inning.

Mejia was told by team trainers that the issue is ‘nothing that serious’ (Vorkunov, August 7).

All you're going to hear about now is injuries. It's getting late in the season and the Mets are dropping out of any possibility of wild card. As it is the Mets are on a respirator now. Another bad series is all it will take to pull the plug.

give backman job let him run out the season and play the players he want let's see what he go do. Leave Flores at short though let's see what he can do

Next post on Mejia's calf is going to read; "Mejia to DL with a strain calf. Familia to take over the closer role"

I see that rios cleared waivers well as Ethier and Crawford....any chance of a colon for either rios or one of the Dodgers OF not named Kemp or Puig? Not that I think that it will happen or that mets will do it.

TC will run him out there with a wheelbarrow tomorrow just to make sure his confidence is in tact.

Am sorry but Mejia is a little to delicate for me.

Really? You would choose Rios over Kemp or Puig? Not that I admire those two, but Rios?? What a nightmare he would be. The mirror image of CY.

@Mont5 Familia is the closer of the future.  He is a horse!

Doesn't sound too serious. Have to wait and see. He's held up pretty well since going to the bullpen.

@Mont5 please explain that comment.  Thanks

Your not getting puig or kemp back for colon, that's why I mentioned those other 3, rios, Ethier and Crawford are more realistic.

@rico @Mont5 it means mejia seems to have some little "issue" way too frequently, especially considering he's a closer and is only expected to pitch 3-4 innings a week

@dtc942 @rico @Mont5 and what do you suggest the mets do about it? And are you both Mont5 and dtc942?
