It meant a lot to Bartolo Colon to beat the A’s

Bartolo Colon held MLB’s top offense to just one run and four hits over eight innings as the Mets defeated the A’s on Tuesday.

Colon, 41, has allowed just two runs or less in each of his last seven starts, during which he’s 6-0 with a 1.58 ERA.

He was 28-15 the last two years with the A’s, with whom he made the All-Star Game in 2013.

This past winter, Oakland signed Scott Kazmir to a two-year deal instead of bringing back Colon, who eventually signed a two-year, $20 million deal with the Mets.

“It really means a lot to have gotten this win over them,” Colon said after the game.

Trade Colon now that his value is high in a package deal for a cleanup hitter, or for an upgrade at SS? What do you think?

@dukewillie If the Mets could get a ML ready slugger or SS I would do it. The thing is to strike at just the right time to get the maximum return for Colon.

@dukewillie C'mon.....you're not getting a anything like that for Colon.  What team will be squarely in the playoff chase and give up their cleanup hitter right now?
