Ike Davis made an effort to keep his weight on his back leg longer during his two at bats yesterday, which was inspired after watching video with his coaches earlier in the day.
According to ESPN New York, Davis said staying back on his leg should allow him to have more power.
Davis got a single against Craig Kimbrel during the first game yesterday. However, he struck out as a pinch hitter in the nightcap. He did not start the second game due to the lefty matchup against Braves starter Mike Minor.
“In that particular situation, we’re trying to score some runs,” said Terry Collins, when asked why he went to Davis as a pinch hitter. “I thought he was the right guy to send up there, and if he’s working on something and it looked good the first game, why not put him out there the second game and see if he can continue it?”
