Ike Davis is happy to still be on the Mets

Ike Davis is shocked he didn’t end up being traded this winter, given the amount of rumors involving his name, he told reporters in St. Lucie on Friday.

“It seemed like we were pretty adamant about going somewhere, but obviously they had to make the right deal for them, and no one offered them what they thought enough, so I’m back,” he said. “I wanted to be back, so I’m happy about it.”

Davis and Terry Collins were scheduled to talk earlier this week, but Davis said he forgot and missed the meeting.

Matthew Cerrone, Lead Writer

Wait, what? Oh, Ike, forever casual, right? Who knows what the situation is there, what his relationship is going to be like with Terry and Sandy Alderson? But, it shouldn’t matter. In the end, it will be about how Davis hits and fields his position. It’s in his hands now, meetings or no meetings. Hit, great. Don’t hit, and I imagine he’ll be either at Triple-A, a free agent or traded to another team…

Duda hasn't hit for power in the show, he struggles badly with risp, he's an awful outfielder and his footwork at 1b was not impressive, he drew some walks by accident late in the year which brought up his obp.....It's been reported by multiple sources he has the label of a "scared hitter".....might make a serviceable DH in the AL, which doesn't help the Mets

I'm okay with it. Maybe Ike is one of those good year-off year kind of guys, like HoJo and Carlos Delgado were.

I'm hopeful he'll get off to a fast start this season and cut down on the K's. If not, need to bench him and replace him with Duda or someone else and look to move him. The Mets have to make a stand: deliver/produce or get shipped out. they need to take that position with at least half the players on this team.

You better have a big year . They know that you could become a super star , but do you . Look back at first two years , look at your swing .

I honestly believe, the mets are the up and coming team in the NL east. lets see Wheeler get 35 starts. Colon offers veteran stability, though I don't think he will repeat his past numbers. Harvey should take the year off. Niese. is poised for a nice year. he is a decent 2 or 3. Gee, is one of our most potent pitchers. SMART. he could easily go 17 or 18 wins on a break out year. im optimistic.

in terms of stats, DUDA is the better player, after all, he is putting up quality numbers, with half a season worth of at-bats. along with OBP. defensively, Davis has the edge. he could also have the edge offensively, but I think sometimes. Davis lets his bad streaks get too him, where Duda snaps out quick. these guys have natural power. just drive the ball

just drive the ball. don't worry about HR. just focus on making contact and driving the ball same thing for DUDA

Well, nobody else would take him, so it makes sense that he's happy to be a Met.

He forgot a meeting???  What?!  That is outrageous.  He should have been disciplined for that.

This guy had so much upside until Hansen exposed him with the curveball , the guy has been timid ever since , his swing is too much on the front leg he is over top on everything , god fielder just mechanics are horrible , he should choke up on the bat to keep his swing shorter and quicker

Forgot he had a meeting with the manager of the team? See, this is why he needs to go. He plays lousy and knows he's being shopped, nobody wants to give up anything for him because he's lousy and he has the ba**s to miss a meeting to discuss how things need to go for him this season? Please trade this guy now so we don't have to endure his non-productive-ness again this season.

That 32 Home-Runs 90 Runs Batted In from 2012 continues to show promise. If he is not traded during Spring Training and emerges in the First Base competition with Lucas Duda, I hope he gets off to a good start in April. "I Like Ike" Still.

He needs to maintain patience at the plate and not strike out three billion times.
