The Mets announced Thursday that Howie Rose and Josh Lewin will return to broadcast Mets games this season on 710 WOR AM radio.
It was reported earlier this week that MLB Network Radio’s Casey Stern is expected to be the new pre- and and post-game host, according to multiple sources (Capital New York, Fed. 11), with Eddie Coleman believed to be staying on as WFAN’s team beat reporter.
The Mets had also been considering an ex-player in the booth as well, according to people familiar with the process (Capital New York, Jan. 27). WOR had been planning to speak with Cliff Floyd and Darryl Hamilton (Puma, Jan. 20).

This is good news. I love these guys in the radio booth. I understand that most people do not listen to the radio broadcast. I didn’t for a long time. However, last year I did, mostly because of having a toddler and a newborn, which forced me to listen with one earbud in while doing something else. Rose and Lewin were great. The TV guys do a great job educating and explaining the game. However, the radio team of Lewin and Rose capture the essence of watching the game with Mets fans, because they are passionate and knowledgeable Mets fans… as is Stern.
