Reminds me of the early part of the season when Collins refused to play Lagares when he was batting over .300 and was the best defensive center fielder in baseball sitting the bench . Oh that's right Collins had to get CY going. See how that worked out.

Lagares is going to be somebody special in Baseball, Look Out, Flores needs to play everyday and like d"Arnuad his bat should turn around Wheeler is  a Top 10 Pitcher Next Year Maybe Top 5.They have to get to the top together and their has been progress, the fact that they got the car wash in the dugout speaks volumes of where their going!!!!! Chill Out Guys, this season is lost anyway!!!!!

Regardless of the fact that Ruben Tejada leads the team in walk-off hits (which speaks volumes about this team's offensive ineptitude) how do you bat him in that spot? Granted, the bench was short but you gotta figure a near-crippled Murphy or Wright had a better chance of success than the Poster Boy for this dismal season..

Can someone please, and I mean Please....

TEACH THIS F_K_NG TEAM TO HIT FLYBALLS WITH RUNNERS ON THIRD LESS THAN 2 OUTS!!!!!!

I HAVE NEVER EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS, EVERY OTHER TEAM SEEMS TO COME THROUGH IN THIS SITUATION, BUT NOT THE METS!!!!

Curtis Bay has 2 extra base hits in all of August.

To further bolster what we all know and see every night: The Sporting News recently listed the worst fielders by position in MLB (utilizing the UZR/150 statistic). On a small subsection for each position they listed the best fielders at that position. Lagares's 32.5 was the highest of all three OF position lists. I hope he has got a place on his mantle set aside for a gold glove (with some room next to it for additional years).

Sadly,  the Sporting News article listed the worst fielding catcher as Travis d’Arnaud. For him they factored in his inability to throw out runners (10 for 51). Still, he's young. Hopefully he can improve that percentage.

Regardless of the standings, that was a particularly hard loss last night, especially since the Mets were locked in during the 8th and 9th innings. Duda hitting into a DP was a crusher. The better team won.

At least we know there are 3 guys who will be apart of the answer for the future - d'Arnaud, Duda, and Lagares.

Jeez...that route Larages took was perfect. Makes it look easy.

Situational hitting is a lost art. And Tejada is just lost. This team is terrible at moving runners along or getting them in. That has to come from the manager, but he plays for the homer. It's really a horror show the way they continue to lose these close games. Need some old fashion National League ball to be played here. Hit and run, start the runners, steal some bases. I guess we are too late in the year to start learning that now but next year they have to play that way. And if Collins is not the manager for that type of play then get rid of him.

He has to improve at that he's been awful. They are lucky most teams don't have a lot of speed or else you wouldn't be able to put him out there even though he hits. But he is going to get exposed and he is gonna look awful if he doesn't improve.

@Tom Gallagher d'Arnaud throwing problems maybe mechanics. His throws always seem to sail. He needs to get some help on this issue and work hard over the winter on it.

D'Arnaud's defense is a glaring issue. Unless he's replaced with a suitable prospect, he's trade-bait. But baseball has always been forgiving if the offense is there.

Not at catcher. He will cost them big time if he doesn't improve next year.
