Murf currently leads the NL in both hits and at-bats.  He has  515 ABs, ahead of Hunter Pence at 514 and Starlin Castro at 496.  But the Mets have played more games than the Giants or the Cubs.  In any event, the Mets who have led the NL in at-bats over a full season are Jose Reyes in 2005 and 2008, Lance Johnson in 1996 and Mookie Wilson in 1983. Starlin Castro has led the NL in at-bats in each of the previous three seasons.  Murf was second in the league to Castro in ABs last season.

Think we might trade Murphy.......

@cyjabeli Watch out, it's sacrilege to suggest the trading of such a fan favorite in this comment section!

However, if you want to look at it from a rational perspective, if Flores can handle second, Murphy would be a nice piece to be part of trade to get a shortstop or outfield power bat.

@flmetsfan Curious that with AAAA hitters, at SS, C, CF, LF, unreliable veterans at RF and 3b, why would we trade the only hitter we actually have?

We are as* deep with starting pitchers. Might two of them get a LF and SS?
