Earlier this week, MLBTradeRumors.com’s Tim Dierkes predicted the Mets would eventually sign Granderson, Drew, Arroyo and Halladay.

Matthew Cerrone, Lead Writer

To do what Dierkes is predicting, it will cost around $45 million next season. Multiple reports indicate Sandy Alderson is likely to add just $30 million to his 2014 payroll.

Of course, he could free up money by trading Ike Davis, Daniel Murphy, a pitcher or someone else, but he would likely bring back money in those deals, as well.

The point is, it’s difficult to project out not knowing who on the current roster is staying and going.
