Matt Harvey felt great, today was ‘awesome.’

Today in St. Lucie, Matt Harvey tossed a baseball for the first time since having Tommy John surgery last summer…

Harvey made 20 or so throws to bullpen catcher Dave Racaniello, who was standing roughly 60 feet away, while being watched by dozens of fans, media and cameras.

“It was awesome,” Harvey told reporters. “Everything felt absolutely amazing. I’ve got a lot of work to do. It’s going to be a tough process with how things felt today. But I’ve got to stick with it and move forward.”

Harvey said it’s in his nature to want to go all out, 100 percent, but he knows he needs to pace himself.

Here is audio from Harvey’s talk with reporters and video of him throwing Saturday in Port St. Lucie…

A story on Harvey's first throws since surgery, and there's only one comment all day? And it's about Cruz? Come on.

Seriously, why are the moderators of this forum so concerned about controlling the Harvey narrative?

I wish the media would stop hyping up this "story"...the guy is going to be a non-factor this year. Let's discuss something else.

Cruz can DH in the AL. I curse this team everyday, but the fact that it took cruz almost until March to get a bogus deal like he did speaks volumes as to what he actually brings to the table. Its not all about the bat, its also about the defense. Granderson, lagares, and c young is probably the best defensive outfield in baseball. If young gives us 15 hrs and cruz winds up hitting 25, its basically a wash.
