Hefner and Harvey throwing from 90 feet

Matt Harvey and Jeremy Hefner took another step in their rehab from Tommy John this past week, each tossing a baseball from 90 feet.

They will eventually advance to 120 feet.

Harvey told reporters he expects to be throwing off a mound at some point in June.

“I can’t wait to get back up there,” Harvey said, who has said he still hopes to pitch for the Mets in 2014.

I think it's good that Harvey has someone to go through this with him like Hefner.  Can push each other.

I for one love to hear about Harvey's progress. He has an old school toughness that this team does not have. I very much hope he can pitch in 2014 if its possible. Go Harvey!

Rooting for both, just hoping they play it smart and don't rush it. Fingers crossed for both!

LIke to see both come back and pitch well ..maybe if Hefner pitches well he could be part of a trade for a SS.

@Anthony Fiore Harvey doesn't need to be pushed.  He needs to be restrained.  He would go out and pitch tonight if they'd let him.

I agree about the old-school toughness we just want to make sure he's healthy so he could be a big part of the Mets championship dynasty going forward

@Albert E Lewis Absolutely, the more talent the Mets can out there, the better off the team will be whether it's through guys coming through or a trade.

@tullydew  Don't like the Harvey posts?  Do yourself, and the rest of us, a favor and skip them.

@tullydew I do. He demonstrated a mental toughness this team needs on the field. Think about it, Terry talks about Duda needing to not look over his shoulder and worry that an 0-4 means the other guys (who used to be Ike) may come in again. To mean that suggests Duda's mentally weak. Harvey isn't.
