Curtis Granderson singles to right

Granderson out of lineup with calf issue

Curtis Granderson will not be in Thursday’s starting lineup because of a ‘calf issue,’ though he may be available to pinch hit later in the night, Terry Collins told reporters before the game.

Andrew Brown will instead start in left field.

“It’s just not loosening up,” Collins said of Granderson’s calf. “I told him, ‘If I have to lose you one or two games instead of 3-4 weeks, that’s fine.’”

Collins said he expects Granderson will be looked at by team doctors sooner than later.

Granderson has reached base safely in 23 straight games, the second-longest current streak in the majors. He has reached safely in a career-best 28 consecutive games.

Granderson is hitting .281 in 135 at bats with seven home runs and 23 RBI with a .389 on-base percentage since May 1.

They never hit, but now, these guys don't even look like they could hit a ball anywhere.

I am glad that Granderson has hit fairly well since May 1st.

So is it 23 or 28 straight games?

This organization is so deep, and so talented, it won't matter.

Maybe he hurt himself last night diving for that ball that was, like, 10 yards away from him.

That stinks.  At .220 he is one of our top hitters.

@Brian Webster my god...I mean how many different starting lineups have we had this season? How many leadoff hitters, how many clean up guys...1-3 are your only threats...4-9...my god....
