Wilpons are out of touch with fan base, to state the obvious.  Matt, why not have a  regular guest poster here , someone from your legion of readers to have a say in an extended piece. Completely free to speak as you are obviously unable (or unwilling) to do. SNY is your boss, I get that. But I don't work for them. Neither do most here.  Don't know if Fred and Jeff read the comments but, I'm confident they'd read a story about, say, a fan boycott in the works. How about it?

It seriously angers me more and more every day when I see Chris Young. When Gee comes back, I'd keep degrom in the rotation, and send Montero back down to AAA. He has a lot of potential, but could use a bit more polishing down in the minors.

Sandy release CY now ! Time for Sandy and Terry to retire ! Take Duda with you....

D'ARNAUD=MINOR LEAGUE CATCHER...DUDA=CANNOT HIT AND SUB PAR FIELDER...MURPHY=STRONG HITTER BUT RIDICULOUS FIELDER..TEJADA=DECENT FIELDER BUT WEAK HITTER..WRIGHT= GOOD NUMBERS BUT WE ALL KNOW THE NUMBERS LIE...GRANDERSON=THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY IN MET HISTORY(AND THATS SAYING A LOT)...LEGARUS= SUPERB FIELDER BUT WILL HIT .250 NOT .300....CHRIS YOUNG= SHOWS JUST HOW STUPID SANDY ALDERSON REALLY IS...HAVE A NICE SEASON!

Young is struggling and may not come around. But Duda...... We have seen him for a few years and we know he is a below average hitter, notoriously lacking in clutch situations (great 2 run homer the other night late in the game with a 3 run lead) a poor situational hitter (pull the ball so the runner can go to 3rd with no outs-if that run scores last night, the game is over), slow as molasses and although improving, not good defensively. The Mets cant possible win with this type of player as a key part of their team.

hey sandy alderson.....If I won an 87 million dollar lottery...YOU ARE THE LAST PERSON ON THIS PLANET!!!....I would ever let invest my money.

Some observations: David Wright will never win a game for you late. He is just not a winner. I think Montero needs to stay down until September. He has no secondary pitches with control. DeGrom is much more advanced at this point. CYoung is a terrible ball player.

Catch the Ball, Chris....catch the ball.

If I was making MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, to play a kids game part time, and dropped a routine fly ball such as that, I would seriously be doubting wheather I should be playing. UNEXCUSEABLE AT THE LEAST. I am dumbfounded that management allows this. Fundemental baseball is why we are losing. Very Pathetic, no wonder Yankee fans bust our chops all the time, they have GOOD REASON TO.

cut Chris Young some slack.  he was obviously affected by the booing of the Philly fans.

Chris Young should go join Valverde ... he hasn't hit, and he hasn't fielded ... wow, what a pickup!

One positive was TDA looked better at the plate.  That ball he crushed in the 1oth or 11th was a HR an hour earlier.

Last night a kid on my 12U team made a diving catch in left field to win the game.  Last night Chris Young dropped a routine fly ball in right to lose the game.  Enough said.

How typical a 3 game winning streak was snapped, now we will have a 4 game streak of lost games :{

Even thought the game went 14 innings, 19 strike outs is a ton.  Nothing good can happen when you don't put the ball in play.

Chris young....ugh. all you need to know is that sandy was hoping to get a .250 hitter who can hit you 18 hr. That is our goal now in free agency...getting guys that if everything breaks right, still stink.

All you need to know about this offense is that Bobby Abreu is their best hitter.

The Mets are desperately trying to make the Chris Young signing look like a genius move by Sandy.  I don't think it's gonna happen.

Didn't watch tonight but it looks like Montero got roughed up again. Typical Mets game otherwise. Score a few early, and shut it down.

legares struck out  4 times, wright didn't hit a lick, why is granderson batting 4th?, why didn't collins take out his pitcher when he was walking a ton and 3-2 guys in the 3rd? why didn't lucas bunt with a lefty pitching with 2 runners on, knowing he couldn't hit the pitcher. with no outs. Collins fault, lucas is a good bunter, that would have set up right handed.

Chris Young, what a joke

@melmet You can turn in your Mets merchandise for some celexa if you'd like.

@cleonsvan so correct!!...david wright has been a master of piling on hits and padding his average...He NEVER ever hits in late innings with runners on base...and this is not new. When the mets choked away  2 pennants in 2007 and 2008 wright was batting third and popping out and hitting into double plays every day when they needed him. Wright is a very good player..but should Not be the FACE of the franchise....unless you are resigned to losing forever.

@hubie_wc Completely agree. His approach at the plate looked much better. Just the fact that he drove an outside pitch to right field and then later turned on the inside fastball and drove one with authority to left field on a line. The kid has the tools to be successful. He's been successful at every level for a reason.

We have nothing behind him this year so let him grind it out. Hopefully Lamar will be a huge help to him

@hubie_wc  I'd say give him some time...at least he has potential; hitting to the opposite field like he did yesterday is a sign of a good hitter.  He will come around and he's young; there's potential there and we need to be patient with him.

@nolrog The Mets were hardly alone out there. The Phillies were just as bad honestly.

Duda has got to learn to hit lefties a bit.  He can't be totally helpless against them.

Dana Smith
Dana Smith

@melmet @cleonsvan I beg to differ, in 2007, Wright was their best hitter and that includes situational and late in games. He's clearly pressing, but he's hardly to blame when they guys behind him strike out constantly and I didnt see anybody else do any better last night, did you?

Paul Wesolowski

No Jose, people here are tired of seeing a Triple A team being fielded, and being charged MAJOR LEAGUE PRICES to watch. How long have you been a fan?

First game was great.  Wheeler looked good, though I am really hoping he learns to be more efficient with his pitches so he can get thru the 7th and into the 8th.

@Steven Matregrano  POWER threat...what POWER threat...dude you are watching the DUD hit...he has no POWER and can't hit a lick.  The guy stinks!  Have you been watching the games, I have.

cleonsvan
cleonsvan

@Dana Smith @melmet @cleonsvan  He never comes through late...never. He is suppose to be our star, it doesn't matter what the others do because the others come through once in awhile, he doesn't. No walk off homers in his career. NONE. He was served up a ball on a tee last night and he popped it up. For all the intangibles Jeter possesses, David is the complete opposite.

Dana Smith
Dana Smith

@Richard Alicea @Steven Matregrano Clearly he has some power, because when he connects, its way gone. Dont be delusional to make your point. He's hitting .237 and on our current roster, is one of the more productive hitters. Yes he cant hit lefties with much power, and he strikes out. But, who doesnt? Lets be honest here.

mags328
mags328

@cleonsvan He does have one walk off homer, against the Padres in 2008.

melmet
melmet

@cleonsvan they simply wont ever admit that wright is NOT what they want him to be...they want him to be clutch...he never has been...is not now...and probably will never be.

melmet

@Dana Smith @Richard Alicea @Steven Matregrano DANA..you seem to take an optimistic view of things, and that's nice...but this is a team that has had FIVE CONSECUTIVE losing seasons and are well on their way to SIX..this is a time for reality!!....unless you like your baseball seasons ending in JUNE..
