This team will never get anywhere with Terry Collins and his crew at the helm.  Collins has never been good with Bullpen Management ever nor was  Manuel before him.  The only coach I would keep is Teufel.

As much as I love Murphy I did not like seeing  him  change what has been working for him at the plate try to swing for the fences and strikeout .  I like Lagarus in center but it should be clear to all that EY is a more important cog as a lead off man than too many fans gave him credit for.  He does make things happens when he gets on.  Has anyone else noticed that we have lost most of the games since he has been on the bench?

Damn, I really thought they were gonna pull this one out. Both teams are poor but the Mets took some of the worst AB's I've seen in quite some time. I really expected more from Satin this year. The guy probably needs to play regularly and he was getting very little action this year. His replacement should provide some much-needed pop from the right side. Hope Duda's food poisoning was not from the post-game spread. If it was, we're royally screwed.

Ohh man. Look if the Mets want to take a lot of pitches, fine. It's terrible to watch but whatever. HOWEVER, the second you're batting in an RBI situation, you need to SWING AWAY!

Even though it pains me, I couldn't help but get the feeling, watching last night's game, that these are two crappy teams ...

As I sit here, there was nothing memorable other than offensive futility ... not even a nice play in the field to highlight ...

Thanks again Wilpon's for ending my baseball season in May this time.

The mets wait for pitch approach has got to stop..In the games they were aggressive, they had better results..so many pitches were very hittable..but they just wait, 2,3 strikes-out!

wonder what Kendry Morales would cost ?

Drove down to this game from Albany with a few co-workers. One of them is from Russia, first game. We were sitting in front of the SNY broadcast booth. Ron said hi to us, I caught a foul ball & gave it to a little kid wearing a david wright jersey. Laughed a ton. Wish they won, but this was one of the best games i've ever been to, and the day was awesome. Just wanted to drop a line and say that, despite the loss, this was a big win on a personal level. LGM.

Time for Mejia to flip spots with Dice K

You can't expect a team who feels the need to put Josh Satin out there to be over .500

Mets announce Campbell to get called up and Satin will likely be sent down.

The Satin ab with guys on second and third was excruciating. He shouldn't even be sent down, release him. He's a crap player with no value. This isn't just piling on a guy, all offseason I said I don't want him back cause his underlying stats were so bad.

Watching the Mets offense is like watching grass grow - with baseball players in the way.

As many other posters have said, the Mets "hitting philosophy" cannot be taken seriously, and the proof is that what should be a good hitting lineup simply isn't.  In fact, the team hasn't hit as long as Alderson and Hudgens have been here.  That's because they've got these guys thinking too much at the plate.  A team of good hitters won't emerge because everyone is following the same script.  Everyone has to be who they are and then be open to adjustments.  If you're a pull hitter, and most are, look to pull early in the count, especially strike one.  You have to want to pull strike one. That's where the power comes from.  Then you have to want go the other way with two strikes.  If your natural swing is to go the other way, then that's what you want.  "Hunting strikes" is ridiculous because "pull" and "other way" swings are completely different.  Anyone who has ever hit knows this.  Few can effectively pull an outside pitch nor hit an inside pitch well the other way.  Then there's situational hitting.  Keep it simple. Let these guys be who they are and look for fastballs in or out early in the count depending on their natural preference. David Wright is a classic case of someone who's in between now and it's the fault of this "philosophy."

Been saying it for 2+ years now: It is time to change the regime. The hitting approach up and down the entire organization is basically fubar. The patient hitting mantra is INCREASING strikeouts and removing aggressiveness (less home runs without the benefit of increased OBP).

If looks like garbage and plays like garbage, it must be garbage! Am tired of these clowns already. Team needs a major overhaul. Owners, manager, coaches and players all should be embarrassed. Team is a JOKE!

Not sure how much longer Mejia can stay in the starting rotation. Even though he didn't get smacked around tonight he still couldn't get out of the 5th inning again.

When the Mets lose Daniel Murphy next year, the only ML infielder they will have will be David Wright.  They also need a corner outfield bat not named Chris Young.  Their bullpen is also garbage...So, I ask you Sandy, what is your plan that everyone else sees to boast, again, that "next year is our year!"

Why did they mention this hunting for strikes thing? Did they want us to be more angry with the organization to have to comprehend that they are "changing" the way batters hit naturally? Am I taking crazy pills? Do other teams do this throughout a whole of an organization?

@Kenneth Meltsner I really blame Terry for letting Satin waste away on the bench so much this year. It is no wonder that he can't get a hit for having so little playing time. Satin hit far better when he was playing with more regularity last year. He is not a power bat but was a good doubles hitter before Terry got a hold of him. All that time wasted deciding between Duda and Davis  really hurt him when neither  are really worth keeping in the long run.

@A Pocono View_

Hello fellow Pocono guy. Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, as I understand it, Dave H was Sandy's hire and is as overly in love with Sabermetrics as Sandy is. The game is played on the field. Instinct and pure talent are still necessary...not just stats. These batters look LOST, trying to compley with the stupid OVERUSED sabermetrics. No wonder players won't come here (a guess).

@Cleon_21 the COUPON's EBT card has NO MONEY...unfortunately we won't experience a winning season until the team is sold to a caring owner who wants to win in the largest market in the world.

Richard Alicea

Not really...he's a better option then DICE-K...other that that fiasco that TC failed to manage properly, he's been good.  Again, TC leaving him in until the other team scored 8 runs borders insanity...just seems that TC makes one bad move after another. Get ready, the nosedive has started...you can take your petition and use it as toilet paper.

Don't expect much more from Campbell. These aren't major league players.

Their plan is just not working. It is long overdue for a change. This is not a one month slump, it has been going on for 4 years. I can't name one player that has had a career year or even a good year offensively under This regime. Ego needs to be pushed to the side and Alderson needs to remove Hudgens and the philosophy. Putrid.

@Joe Wenzel  Yes, you are. Mr. Met is the only good thing the team has going for them! I'm more embarrassed by the team on the field.

snarkerttack
snarkerttack

@Joe Wenzel  Totally agree. As much as I enjoy the big guy, Mr Met really belongs to the younger fans. At least, not on the major league uni.  This smacks of '62 Mets.  We should be trying to present a more ominous appearance, meant to bring fear to opponents hearts. Bring back the Black uni!!  Our lineup won't scare anyone but those unis......!

Mike Garrison

I actually like it. I think their blue road uni's are their best ones. More concerned that Tejada's name is on a major league uniform more so than Mr. Met

konyc

@Joe Wenzel Is it really worse than the old goofy bird the Orioles had for years?  Or, worse, the Indians and Chief Wahoo, which is both cartoonish and racist?  I'll take Mr. Met over the hideous camouflage uniforms any day.

John Paul Cullinane
John Paul Cullinane

It's like Sandy making a joke that he was driving down to Port Saint Lucie last year and couldn't afford the gas.  This front office is so out-of-touch with the fans, that they don't realize "Cute-sy" things do not entertain us...it only fuels anger...also, see the stupid harlem shake or Christmas videos...

Usually broadcasts show their owner on camera during the games, I can't remember one time Jeff or Fred have been seen on camera at the games. Alderson yes, but the 2 clowns I don't know.

@Haig Mathosian  Agree - it's like they wait around for the other team to WIN. But hey why lose in 2 hours when you can lose in FIVE hours??? This hurts.

Major Pain 0303
Major Pain 0303

@Haig Mathosian No I disagree with half that statement. They actually have a lot of heart. Yet your right about the second part. They don't know how to win. They have a little bit of success then boom one loss and they go into a free fall. Good teams know how to stop losing streaks this team does not. Until they figure it out its 500 or worse for the forseable future.

owlnut

@Richard Alicea  A starting pitcher who can't get past the fifth inning should be a long reliever. The bullpen is bad enough without adding the additional strain of 3, 4, or 5 innings on their already tired arms.

Richard Alicea
Richard Alicea

He's a better option than Satin right now...It's a good move and I like the idea of FLORES playing SS on a daily basis.  Why was TEJEDA sent up to pinch hit; the argument that ABREU was left for the 9th innning is just unacceptable.  He would have been leading off...I can see if there are two outs and leaving him for later, but just maybe he could have started a big inning for us.  Again, TC does not maximize or no how to utilize his bench players

@Joe Wenzel Don't know if he'll last long enough in the rotation for Syndergaard to come up. And supposedly the Mets have some insane plan for Montero to come up to the Mets in the pen, then go back to AAA to build up to start again then come back to the Mets to start at the end of the season. I wouldn't be shocked it they flip flop him and Dice K before calling up 1 of the AAA SPs.

Joseph Lewis

They have the heart, just not nearly enough talent.

stemog

I said the same thing about Montero. They're going to screw him up first and then we'll hear he needs surgery. The mentality is mind-numbing at times. If he's brought up and relieves for a month, let him finish the year as a reliever and stretch him out next spring.
