Good to see the Mets get the last game. If Dice K would have put his hat on sooner Saturday nite we might have won that one too. Gee's been very good this year and how about Lagares picking up right where he left off. Hey we're still over .500 with another week in the books. Time will tell and in the meantime LETS GO METS

Flores is another DenDekker, Nieuwenhuis (sp), Lutz, even Satin, except Den and Nieuwy can field. They tear the cover off the ball in AAA but fold with the big club. Time to bring up new people...Campbell, Dykstra, others. Why do we have to see the same old, same old that's proven to be major league duds?

Wilmer's back.  At least his bat is.  Flores just hit a 3-run HR in Vegas.  Batting average back up to .290.

at least we didn't get swept. i dont understand all this talk about bringing up flores. flores is not the answer to anything. if we call him up guaranteed the guy barely hits .200. I just hope the mets hover around .500 untill syndergard comes up. then maybe something can happen? maybe alderson and wilpon will trade for a shortstop at the deadline? too many things have to fall in place but it could happen! always believe!!!!

All credit to Terry Collins for a good win today.

If Flores is up to .290, they should bring him up. I think they are worried about his D tho. As for Legares, no way do I see him showboating. He has such a mature demeanor about him. Like Gary and Keith said "the kid just gets it". I just cant get over how EY was supposed to be in the lineup had he not gotten plunked by his own bp. Every time TC wants to shun this kid, he just responds more and more in a positive way day in day out. I understand the need for EY's speed but not at the expense of our CF star. And he's been pretty dam& good at the leadoff spot past couple of days.

The one thing I noticed from Gee today that I didn't see from our other starters was the ability to pound the ball down in the zone and work the corners.  Everybody else left too many pitches over the middle of the plate and up, which we know is a bad formula in Colorado.

Gee needs an extension, because his price might go soaring if he keeps his great pitching going

Flores should be called up soon. Give him a chance. I know bout the errors but its worth a try since his bat can possible be 10x better then what we have at that position. As for Matz needing time in the minors I always understand the importance for a prospect to learn and grow but Matz is not exactly young. Plus it has been said out of Aldersons mouth that he thinks he can come up now and pitch in the majors.

Lageras is legit, lets hope he dont get Gomez's showboat antics

Daniel Murphy is quietly having a very good year.

Thank goodness we salvaged the series today. I'm still upset with yesterday's loss. Had we won that game, which we should've, we'd be tied for first

Huge win for the Mets.  It would have been great for them to get the win last night as well but they certainly had to avoid the sweep going into Miami.  It is weird to say but the Marlins are dominating at home and with the Mets offense working the way that it has I would be happy if the Mets can get out of Miami with a win.  That being said I've liked how the bats have looked over the past two days.  Lagaras picked right up where he left off, Granderson seems to be coming around, Wright could be warming up, and Young has been refreshing.

A team-leading hitting performance from Lagares today, great to see. What do you guys think to Lagares' potential as becoming a player in the mould of Carlos Gomez? i haven't managed to see too many of his at-bats this season so I'll ask the better informed!

Has anyone seen The Mariners AAA SS. It is not Franklin it is Taylor. Hitting 360, has hit 300 every year since 2012. Only 24. Why don't we go for him??????

I'm so tired of hearing how we have a great farm team. Most of the guys turn out to be duds. But hey, duda leads the team in on base percentage at .360. Not bad!

I was glad to see TC go and get Gee when he did. And the move he made with Torres and Rice.

@Muhammad Qureshi  Flores could easily replace Satin, who has mightily struggled. I was a big supporter of Satin heading into the season, but he needs some ABs. And I agree with Lagares. Juan has shown nothing that suggests he deserves the bench. Chris Young is on a tear, and so is Granderson right now. Let those 3 play everyday and hopefully EY can influence games late with his speed off the bench.

@openmind6  does Alderson get credit for that?  i am giving him props for signing Young.  Young looks great.  he not hitting .200 this year and he is a plus defender.

granderson is showing signs but he is not earning 15 million per.  legares is going to be a fixture in CF.

@Michael Glyn Hall ..I agree with you, I believe Lagares has the potential to be a Gomez type just with a little less speed.Give him a few years and his power would also come around.I been seeing his improvements from last season,DWL,ST,and now,& he's much more patient at the plate, and he's also becoming a good situational hitter

@doubleday  we're 12th out of 15 teams in the national league in pitching. 14th out of 15 teams in hitting. and we're second out of 15 teams in fielding. do you really want to bring flores in and shake up our one strength?

bbr7
bbr7

@kefhrny17  i don't know. i agree that tejada is killing us offensively (for a long time now). but our fielding is one of our strengths and flores starting at shortstop could be a disaster defensively. i wouldn't be opposed to giving flores a couple starts and seeing what he can do. but i doubt it would help. i honestly think that lagares would be a better shortstop than flores lol

Muhammad Qureshi

I do like that, but Col is one of the best teams this yr so far. They r legit. I cant see them trading such a major offensive and defensive piece. The only way they trade any1 like Tulo or Cargo is in the off season, and that's if they don't make it into the first round of playoffs.

Why not give the give the kid a chance see what he can do that's I am saying

Agreed. It would be nice if he could cut down on the boneheaded base running mistakes however.

He's a very steady player, doesn't run too hot or cold. His approach at the plate reminds me of Olerud. Loved that guy.

Chad Michael

@moep @Michael Glyn Hall

He has looked much much better than last year.  Obviously the defense was always there but his swings and approach at the plate have looked much better.  I don't know about Gomez but Lagaras could certainly be a diamond in the rough for the Mets.

Joe DeRosa

He has been SS all the way from HS. Was One top HS SS prospects in country. Franklin is playing 2B which means he is better.

Good point. I wouldn't mind if Flores came up and stole the job from tejada. Tejada is an automatic out at the plate . The guy needs to go.

Doubleday

@cyrus @doubleday  Yes.  Why?  We're 14th out of 15 teams in hitting.  If we have ONE strength, why not sacrifice a little of the strength to strengthen a weakness?

@4EverMets Utility player? I don't think utility players finish second in the league in hits. Guy is solid at the plate.

eavdr10
eavdr10

If he puts up another season like he did last year he will be considered more than a utility player. He's a second baseman. Pure hitter , steals bases. Would start on most teams including the ones across town and the ones who just took 3 of 4 from us.

@openmind6  I miss olerud.  Olerud was a lot more patient.  Would like it if murphy stayed a little more patient with men on base, but he hits, so i cant really get on him for that.

Cordell C
Cordell C

Murph isn't as good as olerud was

openmind6
openmind6

I didn't say he wasn't a streaky hitter, most good hitters are streaky. He doesn't try to kill the ball in an RBI situation, he goes with the pitch, he's a good smart hitter. He always has solid numbers at the end of the year.

4EverMets
4EverMets

@openmind6 Not too hot or too cold?? You're kidding right? Murph is red hot for 7-10 days and then goes ice cold for 2-3 weeks at a time. Very streaky hitter and he also has way too many brain farts on the bases like today. Don't get me wrong, I like Murph and his work ethic and positive attitude. But on a good team, he'd be a utility infielder.

@Joe DeRosa  OK. Just asking. I feel like the Mets will need a defensively proficient SS moving forward especially if they keep Murphy at 2B. His bat sounds great. Just need to make sure the D is there.
