Need to Know: Gee threw six plus innings, allowing six hits and walking one. He struck out six. Gee pitched into the sixth inning and needed 113 pitches. The first two batters reached in the sixth, but Carlos Torres and Scott Rice relieved him and got out of the inning unscathed.
The Mets got on the board early, with Juan Lagares leading off the game with a single. Curtis Granderson later singled to score Lagares for the game’s first run.
David Wright and Chris Young each had RBI doubles in the third inning.
Lagares hit a two-out double in the fourth, followed by a two-out RBI double from Daniel Murphy.
The Mets’ final run came on an RBI double from Lucas Duda in the seventh inning.
Jeurys Familia served up a solo home run in the ninth inning, but pitched two innings, allowing just the one run.
