Daniel Murphy and Curtis Granderson each hit a solo home run to right field during the first to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.

TC Stinks.

Alderson Stinks.

The Wilpons Stink.

The Bullpen Stinks.

The Mets in 2014 Stink.

They will Stink in the future as well even when Harvey comes back and the young arms come up because those guys, as good as they are, can't hit.  You can't win if you don't score runs.  Not one person in the lineup strikes fear in the apposing pitcher.  Not even Wright anymore.  Can we please stop signing reject pitchers and hitters from other teams.  GEEZ!!!!

Besides horrible ownership, the game has passed this manager by, probably long ago, when Mo Vaughn quit on him. They were winning in spite of the manager, until the last week and a few early.

My turn.. If I were the Mets' skipper, anytime my team has a lead by the 7th inning, I treat it like a playoff game.  You cannot walk the leadoff man. If you do, you're out of there.  A short leash for everyone.  And, btw, I would not burn the same three guys every night.  You must use everyone. Why the hell are they here if you have no confidence in them?  Valverde, Germen, Familia do not inspire?  Then now is the time for Montero and DeGrom.  If it's good for the Cardinals, it can work for us too.  And no, I have never managed a team. Just a tortured Mets fan.

They remove Abreu for defense nd leave the worst fielding shortstop (2013) in all of Baseball Out There! Hello are you awake?! Terry!!!

Can someone start a petition to remove this imposter of a Manager?

Thae tandem of Alderson and Collins makes for a LOSER, I repeat a LOSER!  Alderson will not assemble a true major league roster and Collins doesn't know which end is up when it comes to pitching and assembling a lineup.  Alderson keeps telling the media that he has all this money to spend but is waiting for midseason to see which players are available.  Note to the Wilpons:  SELL THE TEAM TO BASEBALL PEOPLE.

Don't have the patience (or stomach) to read all 200 comments. This one is FIRMLY on Terry. Dice-K had NOTHING. Shoulda' been gone after walking first two guys. As has been said many, many times since last October, THIS TEAM DOES NOT HAVE A PROFESSIONAL SHORTSTOP. You cannot have a near automatic-out in the lineup every day. Small-market mentality (and budget) killing this team. Dice-K, Valverde and Farnsworth take three roster spots and make roughly $2.5M. Bring-up some guys with a future. Work the kids into the bullpen. Oh yeah, playing hit-and-run with Duda on 1B and TDA (3 Ks) at the plate. Brilliant strategy.

How do the Cards, Rays and other teams manage to bring up young pitchers and start them in the bullpen while we seem to be constantly stuck with has beens and also rans? You can blame Collins if you want but he can only work with what he has and he can't be putting the same pitcher in every night. Can a young pitcher be any worse than Valverde, Matsuzaka and Farnsworth? It's pathetic. It's been a theme almost every game this season. The starting pitching has been above average, the pen is a shambles and the offense keeps racking up the Ks. This new "hitting philosophy" is really paying dividends. The team is at or near the bottom in every offensive category and are still hovering around .500. It's all smoke and mirrors people. They are heading for yet another losing season and although I'm not a "true new yorker", I've been a Mets fan for over 40 years and this is rapidly becoming the lowest stretch of time since the late 70's.

agree Collins does not have much to work with but Alderson/Wilpons won't spend any money to at least try to put a decent bullpen together. Dice K, Valverde, Farnsworth - are you kidding me? All washed up re-treads. It always comes back to the small market payroll. Couldn't they have taken $1mil from unloading Ike and taken a flyer on Hanrahan? No they just want to lower payroll further

Why is everyone calling for Terry Collins head? The man is 16-15 with an INCOMPLETE team. There is a lack of depth in the bullpen, no legit closer, no viable SS, and not  to mention that the team as a whole is still struggling to hit. We were 15-11 before we ran into a very hot Colorado team and we're now dealing with a hot Miami team. TC is not the problem, nor is Sandy. Do you guys HONESTLY think that Sandy doesn't know where our weaknesses are? He's the GM of a Major League Baseball team, of course he does. But he doesn't control the MONEY. The Wilpons do. They are the problem. They are the ones who limit the spending. If Sandy had an open checkbook he would have went out and signed more players just like Omar did when the Madoff money was flowing like a waterfall. .

Surprised not to see this post littered with Dice K sucks posts and the Mets need to get rid of him. Honestly, with his shift from the pen I'm surprised we have not seen more performances such as this but in my opinion the jury is still out on Dice k as a reliever. It is just a shame he blew the game against a division rival that is playing very well right now. Especially after Niese went Out and did exactly what was asked of him.

I really prefer Recker. He should play more. Feel real bad for Niese. He pitched a beaut. These 6 run and 3 run leads that we manage to lose, it's ugly to watch. I just think TC is not a very good manager.

How many times can we watch our starter pitch a great game and get no decision. Sell the team Wilpon ...you are an embarrassment to baseball .

Me: Time to make some roster moves!

Collins: The team will bounce back tomorrow; if one bounce or call went our way, we may have even won tonight.

Sandy: Couldn't have said it better myself, Terry. And roster moves, where we're going we don't need roster moves! [Think Back to the Future]

Me: If you aren't going to the playoffs, then you are correct. But if you want to win 90 games, here are some good roster moves to make:

1) Satin down; Eric "Soup" Campbell up from AAA

2) Rice down; Vic Black, yes that Vic Black up from AAA. Black is killing it in AAA (0.79 ERA in 11.1 innings) and he was hurt earlier this year which I suspect was why he was so bad.

3) D'Arnaud is the backup catcher; Recker is the new starter until further notice.

4) Tejada down to AAA; sign Stephen Drew to 1 year contract. Ok, yes this will never happen, but I have to suggest it considering Ike's salary money is freed up. Anything is better than another guy hitting .192 at this point.

5) There are more but let's start with these.

Randy Wilson
Randy Wilson

We never should have gotten rid of Omar. He at least had balls. The Wilpons hired a cheap GM to make up for not spending with the madoff drama.

Randy Wilson
Randy Wilson

Terrible job by the GM. He just sits back and with the exception of signing Granderson, has done nothing. Our starting pitching has been our only strength and all those players were already here when he took over. Niese, Gee,Harvey, Meija were all in our farm system. Wheeler is yet to be determined, and personally I would have kept Beltran. Not to mention he let Reyes walk.

Andrew Garber

Bout time we started a kickstarter and take out a full page add in the Post writing a letter from the fans to our owners. They should know true new yorkers are ready to come to the park when they reinvest ticket sales into the team or die/sell

@mff2014  When you try washed up retreads, perhaps one in three will make the team and be good.  But the Mets are relying on all three.  That's a recipe for disaster, as we have seen.

Richard Alicea
Richard Alicea

@Andrew Pasquale because if TC managed correctly this team would be 21-10 and not 16-15...his poor decision making has cost this team at least 5 games this year...the WILPONS should be ashamed of themselves for fielding such a poorly configured team in the largest market in the WORLD!

72tilltc
72tilltc

@Andrew Pasquale  Because he loses winnable games by making stupid moves and watching the game go down the tubes. Because if he rested Lagares why did he play. If he was willing to bring in Farnsworth in the 8th why didnt he do it with a lead.

victor leo

@monstah TC is terrible with the bullpen. He left Mejia in too long and he could not tell that Dice-k was lost last night. awful pen, awful ss and awful manager.

Andrew Pasquale

What did you want Wilpon to do? Throw the 8th inning? Dice K has been pitching great and he blew the lead. It is what it is. Lot of baseball left.

@Joe Wenzel  I couldn't agree more. I do think this team has talent but I'm tired of TC - he's just not a very good manager. Retire and go fishing.

Tarheel11

@supermet  1- Campbell not on 40 man roster. Who are you cutting?

2 - Can't send you're only lefty down. As well as the fact that Black can't find home plate to save his life. Walk an inning. Can get away with that at AAA, not here. That's why he's there

3 - There's a reason Recker is a 30 year old back up catcher. TDA will be fine. He started the year 0-15. Since then he's hitting approximately .250. Leave the kid alone.

4 - I'd personally drive Tejada to Vegas myself but that's not happening. Drew is not great but he's a big improvement offensively and defensively over Tejada but they won't spend the money. I've been saying offer Boras 8M a year for the next two years. But do it right now.

1harris1
1harris1

1 probably wouldn't make a difference. 2 you can't send your only lefty in thebullpen down. 3 I'd be inclined to give serious thought to if d'Arnaud is still playing like this into June, and Recker keeps producing in the manner that he has. 4 has no shot of happening, given who are owner/general manager is.

1-4 ain't bad.

David Vargas
David Vargas

@supermet

1. yes bc satin has really been hurting this team from the bench

2. I agree with vic black get rid of valverde

3. anyone who wants recker to start over TDA just don't know anything about baseball

4. Drew is hardly an improvement over Tejada to sign for 8 million

5. It's May the team is in a great position start enjoying it

Rice is the only lefty. He can't go down. Otherwise why not?

@Randy Wilson  Reyes hasn't even played a full season since he's left. He's been injured every year. He's already out for the first half of this year.

Chris Molloy

@dearleader Collins is an average Mgr. the problem is Fred and his dumb entitled kid (Jeff's son will also think he can run a team and will) Sandy is very good, yes some bad choices with personnel but he has brought young talent in. 2014 will be a disaster, it would have been if Harvey was healthy. Bad news is the Wilpon's are in charge. (They won't fire themselves, even with a 800 million dollar profit if they sell) Hopefully Sandy does not leave or this org has no chance.

isledogs19
isledogs19

Whoever calls the pitches needs to be fired! Are they afraid of pitching inside? also, if the DK cannot throw a strike, get him out of there! Nobody was ready in the bullpen? Why??? Duda running/missing the sign? Bullpen will be burned out as it is every year. Manager gets the credit and takes the blame! That is the way it goes! Tonight was pathetic!

I'd rather have a good team.

Richard Alicea

Why didn't TC bring in RICE to face SALTY...knowing full well that he hits better from the left side.  Keith on the booth knew this and was surprised that he left DICE K in to face him.  Also its time we find a real shortstop...QUINTANILLA is nto the answer and failed to catch a line drive that could have prevented the run from scoring.  The fans will soon begin to tune this team out.  TC is pathetic in managing close games and is afraid to hurt feelings instead of doing the right thing...time to get a coach with some cojones!

lindro88

When different players fail every night it's really crazy to keep blaming the manager. No manager in baseball would have this roster in any better shape than 16-15. That's not saying I love Collins, but it's not his fault. Give any manager Farnsworth, Dice K, Valverde, etc as his late inning choices. See how they do

Daniel Corona
Daniel Corona

This right here is exactly the problem. we need a real shortstop, that can play both sides of the ball and better bullpen management without caring for anyones feelings

@Richard Alicea Couldn't agree more. Collins is a moron. He flat out lost this game by leaving in dice-k too long.

Exactly. TC doesn't help himself by speaking, but he has a very flawed team hanging around the .500 mark.

16-15 with a team that hasn't hit, and has the worst group of rp's in the league.

nymetsrule
nymetsrule

@lindro88  It isn't his fault but someone needs to take responsibility and the manager is that person. It is one way for the owners to show they care by placing responsibility on the man in charge of the team's day to day performance.
