Daisuke Matsuzaka struggled during the eighth as he gave up three runs, two of which were earned, on two hits and two walks without registering an out.
Niese gave up five hits with one walk and six strikeouts over seven scoreless innings on the mound.
Daniel Murphy and Curtis Granderson each hit a solo home run to right field during the first to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.
Granderson, who went 2-for-4 with a run, a RBI and a strikeout, is now hitting .391 on the Mets current road trip.
