This game makes two of the last three where the team has played as if it were double-parked. And that was Ryan Vogelsong out there, fer Crissake. It's just very frustrating to watch this bunch. And with CY and Tejada in the lineup you are looking at three guaranted outs. And someone please tell me why Bobby Abreu (now 2-30 as a PH) remains on the squad. This team CAN compete. Mediocrity is over, if you want it.

This was the quickest game I've ever been to and not in a good way. I don't know why Terry continues to put CY right in the middle of the lineup... It doesn't make any sense at all. Not that it would've made any difference tonight though the Giants have very good pitching.

CY and Grandy are about what I expected, but Niese and Wright are easily the most disappointing Mets for me this season.  I expected much more from both of them.

the team doesn't have the offense to overcome any mistakes. It's great to see what duda and travis are doing, but wright and granderson are not pulling thier weight. there is positives this year but the lineup is just too thin...they can't expect the starting pitching to only let up 1 run every game

Hate to say it but Wright has hurt this team this year. Really needed him. Some other kinks have gotten ironed out. He is looking awful.

May be time to flip flop Murphy and Wright in the lineup.

And pirates fans are quickly leaping off the Ike Davis bandwagon, as he was the first and third out in the same inning. Poor guy

Mets could've gain some ground tonight with the marlins, Braves and hats losing smh

Ok the whole division lost and we only fell .5 game back in the wild card, not the end of the world just win 2 of the next 3

Allot of fans give Sandy prop's for his personnel moves. How about this, where would we be today if instead of trading Byrd he resigned him for 2 years. Would we be in the thick of the Wild Card race with Byrd hitting 5th everyday and playing a good RF with Grandy in left. There never would have been a CY signing and Byrd would have a greater impact than a half season of Black pitching. What a blunder. Another lost year.

Another good night for Lucas Duda, or as I now refer to him, "The entire offense."

Sandy  is in serious talks with 3 proven players.  They are going to play outfield and shortstop.    Popeye, Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck.  They will take us to the playoffs.  The only problem is that Popeye with his massive arms might get suspended cause he uses steroids in his spinach.

Stop with the "trade this guy, release that guy'  This is a business and our owners are terrible businessmen.  I will always love our Mets but this is proving to be a long a painful situation for loyal fans.

Blame ownership for this loss.  They don't care so that attitude is spilling over to the players.  But what do they care there making millions.  Wright is stuck and prob he wish he would of signed with a different team.  Sandy talking about playoffs and 90 wins. can't stand him

This team is not capable of putting together any sort of real winning streak.  Talk of being in the playoff race is a f-ing joke.

Guys, please stop all ridiculous banter. We are two bats short of a playoff caliber team. Sandy/ Wilpons are satisfied with being around .500 with a low payroll. We need a long losing streak to end the season. That's the only way change will come....and we need change!

This is what happens when a GM doesn't show confidence in his team by making a move -- they don't show up -- against a guy with 1 CG in his career. Pathetic performance tonight.

Am I the only one that thinks Lester is automatically a Yankee next year?

Who is this Mookie Betts on the Red Sox?  Made some play tonight against the Yanks in CF.  I read up on him a little.  Interestingly, while he's a speedster who plays CF, the nickname "Mookie" doesn't come from anything having to do with the former Met, but from his parents having liked the basketball player, Mookie Blaylock.

Just for comic relief after a tough loss Jordany Valdespin had as many hits as the Mets did as a whole team tonight lol.

Btw Duda is breaking out in a BIG way!

@Kenneth Meltsner This is a .500 team at best as it's currently constructed.  That's reality.

@archer41 Wright is Avg at best . Hate to think his best days are behind him .

@archer41 Couldn't agree more.  Unfortunately Wright has past the apex of his career and is now in the down-slope.  Niese I'm afraid may be hurt.

@wackymets3 I don't know about the "one eyed dragon" but you certainly appear to be between 5-6 yrs old.

You are ridiculous, ignorant and offensive. I am not even sure that you are a baseball fans and just need to find a place to vent your nonsense after you wore out the group in your anger management classes. I am surprised that the moderators haven't shown you the door yet, but unfortunately, Metsblog has become increasingly sloppy. Argue and disagree all you want, but must you articulate it on the level of a six year old?

joe21
joe21

Agreed, he should be at least one of the two big bats this team needs. Not even sure it needs to be old DW, but the current level is starting to look like a below average 3B. Let's hope it is a slump or an injury holding him back and not regression.

jsnooka

Lol they will just cancel each other out. David Wright is Mr pop up and Murphy is Mr ground into a double play. They should be no where near each other in the lineup

@eric88 They actually could have gotten the return they did on Byrd and then resigned him this past offseason anyway.

@rock44 Well said. Went to tuesday and tonight's game and witnessed the anemia- tonight was awful as per usual for me at Citi Field-  2 hour game like they all had 10 o'clock dinner reservations. Probably a third of the crowd were Giant fans- felt out numbered. The team and more importantly their management NEVER can capture the fans' imagination. With player moves, comments to the press, playing well in front of large crowds, etc. They'll lose Friday through Sunday, and then salvage a meaningless Monday afternoon game in front of 12,000 camp kids.

Shake if off, the more you talk about it the more it will be done. You're just the next target unfortunately

@Ianonicon  I'm not sure.  Remember A-Rod is coming back next year with his 20 plus million; and they'll also probably spend big on a replacement for Jeter.

Exactly. Like the Sox intend to do with Lester.

I agree he's playing decent for Miami so far, unfortunately he was given the Flores/Lagares treatment and we never really saw what kind of player he could be.

No Boston traded him because they know they won't resign him
