You don't give a game ball to the other team! I guess you probably were happy that the Met pansies did not retailiate after DW was hit.

Bob Melvin, Buck Showalter, Joe Maddon are just 3 examples of what great Mgrs can do for a team without big payrolls, TC will not win with any team, after dArnaud and Flores play big parts in your teams win, they both get benched, Lagares gets shifted to 2 hole and you entire lineup changes the day after you score 7 runs for only the 3rd time since the all star break. Stop the madness and replace this guy with a Mgr that makes your team better not worse.

An unfortunate game. In general, lately the Mets have been about as lifeless as the bored kid who moans his way through the "K-A-R-S Kars for Kids" commercial that always plays during Mets games on WOR. They're lucky they're playing the Cubs; had it been another team, they'd be trying to avoid the four-game sweep tomorrow.

Well hey, at least they are playing the kids for the most part, which is what everyone always says they want.

Is it me or does nobody remember Meija has a hernia?  Guy should be forced to have the necessary surgery and have Familia try his hand the remainder of the season.  The things this organization does (or should I say does not do) makes me SMH.

Sorry but Mejia is not the answer.  Maybe as a setup but not as a closer.

Putrid lineup, one of the worst hitting teams ever.

Same ol' slop Mets.  Only silver lining was that Montero didn't get the loss, which he certainly would not have deserved.

The reason all of our pitchers are at .500 and below .500 even though our "worst" starter is Colon with a 3.85 era.  Anything in the 3.00's is superb.  All of our pitchers are below 3.99 era and STILL can't get winning record.

That's indicative of the Mets lack of run support.

saddest thing is that this board would have been equally miserable had the mets won.

So Terry sat Flores the day after he drove in two clutch runs, and inserted Tejada, who got two hits and was pulled from the game. Unreal.

I wonder how it feels to be pitching for the Mets with no run support. Like I think they hate taking the mound cuz they no the offense behind will tack on no runs and MAYBE a hit or two. Then they realize they play for a manager that does not know how to manage a bullpen nor know how to write a line-up.

Collins has to go because he can't get this team stimulated to hit especially when a rookie starting pitcher throws a nice game!!!!!

How much more going thru the motions can you get? More great pitching gone to waste. Does this team ever steal or hit and run in a meaningful spot? CAn't score runs yet they stand around and wait for something to happen. SMH. I almost went to the game today and thought better of it. Saved myself $$$ and that looonnng   train ride home. Thanks common sense. :)

There's one guy who will earn $13 million in 2014, $16 million in 2015 and 2016, and $15 million in 2017 that is constantly dragging this team down.

Glad TC rested Flores and td. A long season ahead and these old veterans need a day off or two now and then!

Wally would of been a wild man after a loss like this.....Then again, that's why Sandy doesn't want him around.....

Now I know what is the reason for the mets  being a mediocre team.....No determination.....they get to the plate like its a Sunday dinner at grandma's back yard......plain and simple......Collins has to go and following year if the Mets don't make the playoffs......Sandy.

You can't waste this kind of pitching when you're getting it. I guarantee you, given the loser, no-killer-instinct attitude this franchise has had under the Wilpons, they'll go into this off season with the philosophy that "well our starting pitching and bullpen are set, we'll just improve the offense slightly and be good to go." But it doesn't work that way. You cant assume a strength is going to remain as strong. The attitude of this organization has long been to do just enough, or appear to, and never go for the jugular. They should have done a lot more to improve the offense this past off season because you never know when excellent young starting pitching is going to suddenly fall apart. Watch them make the offense just barely passable but see the rotation or pen go in the tank and we end up in the high 70s ... Again

Everyone on here is blaming everybody for this game but there's been no mention of Meija. The closer didn't and the team lost.

Why not point that out? Or is it too difficult for some?

@semperfi I can understand sitting d'Arnaud day after a night game. Catcher is an extremely demanding position. Problem is, the Mets need a better backup catcher. Recker occasionally will hit a mistake 400 feet, but on the whole, he's not a major league ballplayer. No excuse for sitting Flores the night after he gets a big hit; he certainly shouldn't be tired, and Collins could have still played Tejada by playing Flores at third instead of a guy who really should be in Vegas alongside Recker (Eric Campbell).

@herblehman You know the money from that organization doesn't go to the needy right? It contributes to a religions organization.

theglider

Why? Pitchers have gone entire seasons with hernias and have had no problems. R.A. Dickey won a CY Yoing after going an entire season with a hernia. That wasn't the trouble. He just made a bad pitch.

And of a bullpen that loses games.

@rico Because beating the Cubs in a 1 run game wouldn't erase 6 years of being awful.

He was pulled for a pinch runner who ended up scoring. That's your complaint?

You mean the guy who tied the game and had their only RBI.

TC is just disconnected to reality, dArnaud and Flores play huge parts in your win along with denDekker and Lagares and what does he do, benches Flores and dArnaud and moves Lagares up to the 2 hole, changing the entire lineup after a nice win, for those that believe in TC you are just as disconnected. Watch Tampa/Maddon, Baltimore/Showalter, Oakland/Melvin, these teams win because of great leadership, not team payrolls, these Mgrs are arguably 3 of the best in baseball and consistently overachieve. They approach everyday with a sense of urgency to win and it shows in there day to day decision making, they build the confidence in their players to be winners and get the most out of them which is pretty much the opposite of what TC does on a daily basis

Aside from dropping his pants on the pitcher's mound and mooning the plate ump, Wally wouldn't have made a bit of difference. His call-ups may have hit in Wally-World, but they can't hit in the bigs.

I share your fears. There is no reason to believe in Sandy's ability to take this team to the next level. Whether it is because of his hands being tied financially or simply an inability to judge free agent talent (Young,Granderson, Francisco, Marcum) I have no faith inhim.Granted, he has shown an ability to take expiring contracts and get good prospects, but that ship has sailed. We have no one left, and we don't need prospects now, we need impact players to push us over the top. And that is a skill I have not seen him exhibit

Doubleday
Doubleday

No. Actually, I have quite a few more. Is that all you have to add? So the guy TC pushed on us all as the SS who was "playing real good" is suddenly too slow to run for himself? Suddenly? After 100 games? And if the squad on the field was not scoring any runs and a guy who had a clutch RBI hit the night before is on your bench ... Why wouldn't you put a bat in his hand? I won't even go into how Terry finally admitted, after the beaning, that DW's shoulder has been bothering him all year, despite everyone telling the media that he was fine. The manager is an embarrassment, and all you can do is pick at me for my comment? Say something intelligent someday, instead of harping on others.

I don't even think the bullpen is that bad. The lineup sucks. The lack of offense has been the team 's biggest problem all season.
