Result: The Mets dropped their series finale to the Braves, 6-1, Thursday night at Citi Field.
Need to Know: The Mets managed just four hits against Mike Minor and Atlanta pitching. Minor, the Braves’ starter Thursday, had two hits of his own, scoring a run and driving in one, as well. Atlanta centerfielder Emilio Bonifacio had four hits and drove in two runs, and Ryan Doumit’s ninth-inning homer off Daisuke Matsuzaka broke the game open late.
Mets starter Jon Niese scattered nine hits and allowed just three runs in 7 1/3 innings but took the tough-luck loss, falling to 7-10.
Game ball: Minor helped his own cause, giving the Braves the lead with a second-inning RBI single then took a no-hitter into the fifth inning. He wound up striking out five and surrendering just one run in seven-plus innings.
