Game Recap: Braves 6, Mets 0

The Mets (8-8) got just one hit and lost to the Braves (11-5), 6-0, at Citi Field tonight >> Read the full AP recap and boxscore at SNY.TV.

Need to Know: Harang threw no-hit ball for seven innings, but was pulled after 121 pitches. Reliever Luis Avilan quickly gave up a single to David Wright for New York’s only hit of the night.

Jon Niese let up one run and four hits, while striking out seven, in six innings. The Mets trailed 1-0 when he left the game.

However, Gonzalez Germen and Scott Rice combined to give up four runs in the eighth inning, thanks in part to two-run home run by Freddie Freeman and a poor throw by Travis d’Arnaud, who let a ball sail in to left field that scored Dan Uggla.

The Mets had their three-game winning streak snapped.

Post-Game Reaction from Matthew Cerrone: “Freddie Freeman really is becoming the new Chipper Jones. He’s been killing the Mets. … Harang looked incredible. It’s worth noting he was pretty good for the Mets his last few starts last season. He’s been a steady pitcher his entire career, and that doesn’t seem to be changing, at least not tonight. … The silver lining tonight is Niese, who looks totally fine. He had a bizarre spring full of MRIs and trips to New York and a start on the DL, but he’s looked very strong in three starts this season. He had a nice pace tonight, he threw strikes and appears to be healthy. … The bad news is whatever keeps this team from playing well at home. It’s a mystery, but it’s got to be something. I used to think it was bad luck, but I just don’t know any more.”

What’s Next: The Mets continue their three-game series with the Braves at 7:10 pm ET at Citi Field when Ervin Santana (1-0, 0.64 ERA) takes on Bartolo Colon (1-2, 6.00 ERA).

I think the Mets left their bats on the plane from Arizona !

I think it is time to put Grandy in the 2 hole.  He does not have the hitting mentality of a cleanup  hitter and he has never hit cleanup has he?

The 2014 Kiss of Death:  "He's really tearing it up at Vegas."  It's only one game, of course, but it's amazing how a performance like that just kills the vibe of a good road trip. Sloppy game all-around after things went south. And the Grandy-man is clearly letting his offensive woes impact his fielding. On the plus side, TDA and Tejada are hitting .330. Oh, wait, that's COMBINED.

In all fairness, Mets might play better at home with less pressure. No more dragging poorly performing players through the media circus. No more talking about sending them down, not sending them down, sending them down. No more leaks - intentional or otherwise - to the press regarding every possible move. No more reporters in the clubhouse sticking microphones in a player's face asking why they had a bad game. Just let the guys play and focus on the game. They know when they mess up and when they play well. I know it's all part of playing in New York, but come on, it's overkill. And the way these guys are underperforming, tightening up on these things might be the only solution. It surely wouldn't hurt.

Citi Field is built upon an ancient indian burial ground, yep that has to be it.

How about SNY not showing the score hits errors going to commercial break.

Thought it was really weak.

Granderson has a 38% miss swing ratio. The guy is plain awful. This is not just a slump. When you slump you usually have some bad luck and hit balls right at people. If Grandy is under .200 by end of May, is it time to start benching him?

Any money saved by Wilpons in Ike deal is ticketed for their Citi bank acct, where you can earn 20,000 bonus ThankYou® Points. Oh wait....you have to spend $1,500 in purchases.  Rats!!

For young Mets fans, Dr Allan Lans was team psychiatrist hired by Mets in late 80's.  Wonder if he's busy...

Everyone on here is funny..whether we lost 6-0 with one hit or 12-11 with 15 hits we still lost..it's one game..were 8-8 which is better then everyone though we would be and if we come back and win tonight all of you guys will be back on the bandwagon..what do you people get out of complaining about every loss..especially if your gonna change ur time the next day if they win

Citi Field is cursed. The only way to explain how putrid this team is when playing there. One hit?! I don't want to hear Harang pitched really well...one hit?! At home ?! This team is infuriating to watch, and the line up can be god awful at the plate. We all heard about CY raking in triple AAA comes to Citi Field...nothing! Cursed I tell ya...grandy is looking more and more like Bay 2.0 and it's starting to affect his defense, he's looked bad out there lately. Tejada...joke enough please! TdA I am still shocked how this kid fouls off great pitches he AND scouts think he should be driving...the curse of citi field. Ok I'm done ranting but watch Ike will kill it in Pitt because he no longer wears a met uni...truth.

How bad is the Granderson deal looking right about now, wow, he has been horrible. I'm sure most mets fans are having visions of Jason Bay when they look at this situation. Hoping Grandy starts to play better or this situation will turn bad quickly if he is doing this come the all star break. Risky signing by the mets and not looking like a good deal by sandy to this point (which again is early but man he is looked awful.

Mets offense clicking with that one hit, this team needs help on offense if guys like Granderson and d'Aranaud etc... aren't hitting... with Ike now traded i'm hoping the mets use some of those saved funds to fix SS at the very least, maybe Drew decides its time to suck it up and sign for a decent deal. Mets need help, time for Sandy and the Wilpons to step up and get it for them.

How does Niese look totally fine when his fastball is in the mid 80s?

Curtis Granderson= WASTE OF MONEY and the reason I wont pay to see the mets after 43 yrs.

It is obvious management had no faith in Ike. They gave the job to Duda after 3 games. Ike was intended to be trade bait. Granderson as I said when they signed him, is nothing more than Jason Bay revisited. We haven't had a decent catcher since Piazza, decent firstbase since Delgado or decent shortstop since Reyes. This team needs serious retooling

Great now lets see what DUD gives us SMH, you'll people will regret this especially all the so call Duda fans in here. I see nothing from Duda at the MLB level we'll be lucky if he has another season of 15 HR and 33 RBI's

How can any of you "fans" make comments without putting the blame flatly where it belongs: Sandy Alderson.  His decisions are disgraceful.  Look at the bullpen, virtually the same as last year, loaded with garbage.  Then the acquisitions:  Granderson and Dice K, castoffs from their previous teams.  Is it because bad players come cheap?  And then there's Collins, a bad manager from the get go.  Until the front office voids are filled, I see no improvement on the horizon.

I'm hoping Germen's outing can be attributed to TC throwing him 3inn his last appearance. He'd been like the 1 ray of hope in the Mets pen thus far this year before tonight.

Rice needs to go. He has been awful in every appearance this year.

Everyone relax, we swept the D'Back's, we're awesome.....Our starters should only throw 70 pitches or we'll take them out if someone hits one to the wall. All is well....sheep.

The stadium tonight was surprisingly packed, and the mets gave us one hit. Sat in section 129 with great seats to watch nothing...

To say the Mets were an absolute disgrace tonight would be a compliment. Harang looked like Christy Matthewson against the Mets. Curtis Granderson is about 2 games away from being treated by fans like Jason Bay. He looks god awful. And I've said it 100x, I'll prob have to say it 100 more times, TdA stinks!! I'm not saying Recker is Carlton Fisk, but there is no question he is better then TdA. And pitchers love Recker. TC should flip a coin when deciding ow to bring out of the pen, because they're basically all a crapshoot. And lastly, Good Riddence Ike Davis!! Nice guy, plays hard, blah blah blah. I'd rather have a guy who his teammates hate, treats the fans like garbage, and rakes at the plat. I hope none of you fans cheer him when he comes back because the bottom line is he had a negative impact on this team. Period.

Looks like the Mets should've kept Harang instead of Dice K

Ok Metsies, now that we got a loss at home, it's time to get the winning streak going. Lets Go Mets!

No, the Mets got NO hits against Aaron Harang.  It was the reliever who gave up the hit.  Jeez.

@mike23 I agree. He can't make contact. What a terrible signing. I don't think he will find it again. Sandy is good with trades and pick-ups of cast-offs but terrible with free-agents.

C'mon ike has been awful for the last 2 years, fans were furious, many, no most here screamed to cut ike. They sent him to AAA to fix him, it didn't work. I think he needed a new start elsewhere and he's getting one.

Fans here gotta stop bitching about EVERYTHING!

I'm certain had they traded duda (untradeable) y'all would have been furious at Sandy about that.

Let's see who the PTBNL is, hope Duda or another performs @1st, and wish Davis well. It's gonna hurt to see him as a Pirate but that's beisbol.

@samc That ball tonight was hard hit but should have been caught by Granderson.

@samc There's no one in the organization to replace him with right now unless you want the Mets to not have any LHP in their pen

I'll give darnaud the season, but it's unnerving to watch him. His instincts behind the plate aren't that good. At the plate , wow, the guy fouls good pitches off regularly. Rooting for him because that's what this team should do, play the young players. Let them fall on their face now, but darnaud , I just don't see the hype. Nobody else has either, because the guy has missed most of the last two seasons.

Nope. Gotta keep the arm safe. Just like we did with Harvey.

Dana Everland and old vet in the Mets AAA was stellar in spring and has been dominant in AAA so far this year. Look for him to be in NY shortly.

@eavdr10 I agree with giving TdA the season, it's gonna be a trainwreck anyways. Maybe something good will come from him....... I doubt it but you never know. I don't think he's big enough to be the catcher we need. Slugger for power he will never be.

Mike DeRosa
Mike DeRosa

@dreamer3kx @eavdr10 IMO I think that RF fence is already messing with his head. He used to just sneeze at a ball in Yank Stadium and it would hit the upper decks in right field. Same thing happened to David. Gonna take him a good while to adjust.

eavdr10
eavdr10

Right. I know he will strike out , but the contact has been so poor. And he looks completely incapable against lefties. That's not good. He cannot be a platoon guy.

He left after 6 down 1-0. 100 pitches, just had some injury issues. Nothing wrong with taking him out
