Game Recap: Braves 3, Mets 1

Result: Jacob deGrom allowed three runs in the first inning and the Mets couldn’t recover, losing by the score of 3-1 on Wednesday night as they were swept out of Atlanta.

Need to Know: After nearly escaping a bases loaded, none-out jam in the bottom of the first, Jacob deGrom gave up a two-out, three-run double to Chris Johnson that scooted past third baseman Eric Campbell‘s glove and gave the Braves a 3-0 lead. The Mets drew to within 3-1 in the fourth, plating a run on a sacrifice fly. Braves starting pitcher Julio Teheran kept the Mets off balance for seven innings, and the Braves bullpen – without Craig Kimbrel – did the rest, as the Mets were swept in Atlanta.

Game Ball: Teheran of the Braves, who tossed seven innings of one-run ball.

Let me tell you how pissed I  am at the Mets . I went to my first ever Yankee game Sunday and I hate the Yankees . I will not pay a dime to see this misfit team and cheap crappy ownership. 10 -15 games a year 0 this year.

I feel for the young pitchers who are trying very hard to throw shutouts each game...this is totally unfair for their development.

It might take them a year & a half to get 90 wins for Silly Sandy.

Did anyone see the ball that got by Soup to score all 3 of the Braves runs? Sure it was on his backhand side and hit hard but come on, you make that play, we're in the game. For as non-clutch David is, his glove is still legit and I believe he would have saved us 3 runs and possibly the game.

On the upside EYJ, Legares, and the whole young bullpen had great games. At this point in time, I'm more about checking how the players who will likely (or could likely) help next year and beyond are doing. TdA is hitting well since coming back up, Legares has had a nice couple of games in a row, and Duda and EYJ are both pulling their stat lines up a bit (I know everyone is down on these two, but I still hold out hope for both that they can come into their own, and their numbers are improving). I'm already punting on this year and hoping we can actually spend some money (and have some players mature at the right time) for next season and beyond.

Been a fan for MANY MANY YEARS, never have I seen such lack of ambition throughout a whole organization! Sickening!

This Administration just does not care about this team. Sell everything and go into the pantie bussiness.

0-4 since that little "let's go 10-5" comment. Anybody smelling a 10-1 stretch?

Sandy and Collins both have to go.Sandy will not let Wally play who he wants.

Start the change by re-positioning TC somewhere else in the organization and bring in Wally, players enjoy playing for him and he instills confidence in them that they need to win, Wally is a champion and has a winners edge that TC does not and can't fake. TC is good at telling his players what their doing wrong through the media but has no clue how to fix the problem, Wally knows how to get guys on track. TC has that nervous kind of energy like a small barking dog where as Wally would be the Bulldog, small but mighty and always walks with confidence, TC is a nice guy but not the guy!

TC, you must go. Sandy gave you lemons but you could not make lemonade.

Well at least they didn't have the lead and lost. They just lost.

I feel terrible for WRIGHT, MURPHY, and arguably TRAVIS...aside from the pitching staff, these players are the only bright spots for this team.  This is the only major league team where 2/3 of the position players are number 8 hitters...as an opposing pitcher I would love to face this line-up on a daily basis.

Richard Alicea
Richard Alicea

They have no pep and are boring to watch...it's at the point were losing is now expected and accepted by the players and management...DON'T GO TO CITI FIELD!

This team is completely dysfunctional, and that is an understatement.  Let the nosedive continue....

I feel bad for David. He's gonna have to spend the rest of his career with this.

Fired Terry Collins now Mr.Sandy Alderson dont wait any more longer, dont you see Terry Collins is a very bad MGR.

Terry Collins should stop giving post game interviews.  It's just as big a waste of time as watching the game.  If they're not going to play for him then fire him and bring in someone else.  Wally would never accept performances like this he would hold them accountable. Oh right, that's why they won't give him the job.  Sandy can't control him.  He likes "yes" men.  They should lose him too.

Hey Fredo and Jeffy - Enough already!! Just fire Terry and hire Wally!

So I see the Mets lost... I also went through the game log and that annoying poster guy "jenkins" still didn't give up on me. I'm flattered he's thinking about me, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't know what "troll" means... Because that's exactly what he is. Goodnight faithful Met fans

Terry is going to get fired during the all star break.

Well, let's be positive for a change.  deGrom showed some guts tonight hanging in there after the bad first inning.  Frankly he should have gotten out of that inning if the home plate umpire called what looked to be a clear third strike on Chris Johnson two pitches before he hit the bases clearing double. deGrom clearly was lacking with his control tonight, but at least he gave his team a chance to come back.  I really like what I see from the kid.

Unfortunately, it appears Sandy and his crew were hired by Selig and the Wilpon's to be PR men for the Circus. They hoped Sandy could hit on some fringe players (did not happen) to buy Selig's friends 4 or 5 years for when the draft picks develop. That is why the GM and crew are paid huge money. It stills saves Fred 30 million in payroll.

I used to respect Sandy and I still think in a few years we will see that his draft picks develop and we will have a good team (unless Jeff screws it up) but I lost all respect for Sandy, he is a well paid shill who does not need the $.

We went from 2014 is the year, to we are going to be the best 72 win Met team ever and,oh by the way 2015 may not be the year either (you won't be told that until the Wilpon's take as much of your $ as they can) Matbe 2016 probably 2017, hopefully.

Matt Reynolds (.391) playing 2nd for Las Vegas again.  Bye Bye Murph.  Good news:  Plawecki hit a bases-clearing double in the first inning.

NOTE: I just looked at the available free agents for 2015. A few decent Shortstops, but otherwise not a lot of good bats available.

The Mets have had horrible stretches like this in every decade they have played in.

@Scrubs As long as Sandy and Terry zre with the Mets in any management position the team is doomed to be a loser.  The only way to get rid of them is to stop putting a$$es in the seats.

@suzyq Watching Terry in his post game comments is painful.  The guy never has anything bad to say.  He would be great as a product spokesperson, or perhaps working for the People's Revolutionary Committee.   It is painful and boring beyond belief.

Question - why do managers wear those clown costumes??  Look at any other sport - they wear normal 'civvies' if not suit and tie.

Terry looks like a Clown in his uniform.,

@vimets This is the worst because they arent developing players and the team plays poor fundamental baseball.

Richard Alicea

This kid is trying too hard due to the lack of hitting that's occuring throughout this weak lineup; if we had good hitters this kid would not press during his at bats and would probably have very good numbers.  So yes, he's arguably a bright spot for this team.

Richard Alicea

I would still go just for the fireworks...I hate the word "boycott" but this ownership doesn't care about the fan base.
