Friday’s minor league recaps…

Wilmer Flores had another tremendous game for the Las Vegas 51s, smacking a three-run homer in the 4th inning and a solo shot in the 10th. Flores has homered three times in the last two games and hit safely in eight of nine since being demoted. He also has five multi-hit games in that stretch.

Flores is a trade chip right now. Why can't people see this? Tejada is playing well enough to stick around and there are several free agent SS this coming offseason. Flores is a player without a position. He will get packaged with Colon in a deal that hopefully brings in a speedy leftfielder that makes contact. That's what I think the Mets are planning with him.

I was at the game last night. The 10th inning homer was an absolute bomb. Had it not hit the scoreboard, 500'+ easily.

They're doing the same thing with Nieuwenhuis they bring these kids up play them sporadically and then wonder why they can't perform.  These kids need to be playing everyday otherwise send them back down.  They need to come to the yard everydy knowing that they r playing and where they r playing......consistently.

Even in the minors the Mets don't do Flores any favors, while in AAA Flores gets to bats everyday, they move him around on the field everyday. His last 5 games he's played 3B, 2B, DH, SS, 3B, how is he supposed to get good enough at any position if they move him around everyday? They have played him this way at least the last three years, makes no sense to me.

Is time Wilmer took over the starting role over Tejada? Terry needs to play him 6 days a week in the majors

When Wilmer is hitting all those home runs, whose face does he see on the ball before he scorches it, Sandy's or Terry's.

Too bad we're so loaded with... oh wait, sorry.  Ok, too bad he's blocked at shor... oh wait, sorry he's not.   Ummmm Ok, too bad he's an alien and feeds off right handed pitchers. That must be it.

Not for nothing, but Flores in AAA is part of what makes me think they're in it for different reasons than we are. They are trying to lose on purpose.

That's what happens when you let a player....play

May be time to give thought to simply moving the entire franchise out to Vegas.

Everyone they send here hits like crazy.

Everyone who's hitting like crazy in Vegas, gets called up to Queens & hits .187.

Between the Indian Burial Ground under Shea & Citi Field, and the free fire zone in Vegas, it may be time to move there.

Wow. Its a good thing we gave him a chance. How's any young player supposed to get a rythm going when they only play once every 6 games.

The Mets have screwed around with Flores every time he's been up. .. last year he was hot, turned his ankle & that was it... this year a crime the way he was used... the Mets abused him enough that it's become popular for our putzy beat writers to say Flores has limited offensive potential when they don't know squat... he needs time

this team being pretty much out of it at this point, should play flores everyday at shortstop. tejada can backup ss and 2b nicely.  this team needs a middle of the order hitter and i dont think we r gonna get one soon so i dont know why we r playing tejada over flores who can produce at a much higher level.

I know the PCL is a hitters paradise but Tejeda wouldn't be doing that in Vegas....yea Flores is defensively challenged but Tejeda is no GG either...wish TC would give Flores a shot

@qualcomm  Huh? They plan to package him in a deal. That's about the extent of the conspiracy.

@metjetnet Vegas is hitting Narnia because All Stars like Chris Young and Ruben Tejada aren't blocking players there.  It's a fantasy world where bench players aren't asked to hit 40 homers and young talent gets at bats.

@John Grillo Babe Ruth had limited potential too.  He was limited to 60 homers a season lol
