Would anyone be interested in bringing Richards back for $1.5M to play 3rd line Center and 2nd unit PP? It would allow the Rangers to move Hayes to the wing.

Nash-Brass-Zucc

Kreider-Step-Hayes

Etem-Richards-Fast

Glass-Moore-Lindberg/FA

Not sure it works into the cap or that Richards would want to do it, but if he would sign for one or two years at $1.5M per is it worth the risk? He could then take Moore's spot on the 4th line the following year if Moore moves on and a young kid takes a 3rd line spot in 2016-17

Crap I forgot about Miller again! So maybe Miller plays with Richards and Etem and Fast is 4th line. Lindberg can then take one more year to develop

A good thing he wanted to come to NY..One of the worst Ranger trades in decades....

@heckno Really? So what exactly did Tampa Bay got for St Louis do you know? Capt Callahan is making $6 mil (played on 3rd line in the SCF),
Tampa Bay traded both 1st round picks 2014 and 2015 to NY Islanders.
28th pick last year Islanders selected Joshua Ho-Sang,  28 pick this year Anthony Beauvillier (I liked him)
Tampa got the 35th-Dominik Masin and 57th-Johnathan MacLeod (2014),
33rd pick and 72 pick (2015)

You can't say that Rangers gave up a lot because Rangers did go to the SCF last year and MSL was leaned on by the youngsters to help them with development Hayes, Kreider, JT even Danny Kristo St Louis spent time after practice showing him about positioning and getting quicker release the guy is an afterthought as a prospect so do not dismiss the intangibles that MSL brought to the Rangers.  As far as the guys drafted or the ones Rangers could of had we will need to give another 3-4 yrs to truly assess the trade, stay tuned.

@Straw18 Not really, it is time for him to go but he provided one hell of a spark last year during the playoffs.

If Brooks is writing this then that means the Rangers and MSL are close to a contract extension
