The Red Sox won the World Series late Wednesday, meaning MLB teams are allowed to bid on and sign free agents starting next Tuesday, Nov. 5.

I expect you’ll hear teams connected to specific names starting late next week, as agents and organizations start reaching out to one another. The next week, Nov. 11-13 in Orlando, MLB will hold it’s owners and GM meetings, which are supposed to be for league business. However, it ends up being a time when teams feel one another out about trades. This typically marks the official start of the rumor mill.
Then, again in Orlando, December 9-12, MLB holds its annual Winter Meetings, which is when some deals go down, but even more rumors get circulated. There is a lull around the December holidays, and a final push to lock in rosters by mid-January.
