According to SNY, Rodriguez was charged with third-degree assault after an altercation with his father-in-law at Citi Field on Wednesday.
Unbelievable. It never ends…
The Daily News reports:
“Rodriguez and his wife’s father brawled in a tunnel just outside the Mets clubhouse in the moments following the team’s 6-2 loss to the Rockies… Investigators believe the hotheaded closer threw at least one punch during the 10:15 p.m. scuffle, which spilled out of the team’s Family Lounge.”
He will be arraigned Thursday morning at Queens Criminal Court.
The police said Rodriguez was taken in to custody after the altercation, which left his father-in-law with a bump on his head – he was being detained overnight at the Citi Field precinct.
“A uniformed police officer walked into the clubhouse shortly after Rodriguez walked out of it through a pair of double doors,” reports the New York Times.
Rodriguez was involved in shoving match with bullpen coach Randy Niemann earlier this season, which both sides chalked up to a ‘miscommunication.’
