All the Met pitchers looked good yesterday including Journeyman lefty Dana Eveland who looked like he could be a nice workhorse innings eater.

Familia is having a nice spring and could be a solid addition to the bullpen this season.  Young power arm that could morph into a closer which may be a good thing with Parnell coming along slowly.  Give the kid a shot and see what he can do if Parnell needs more time or groom him for setup role.

No article yet on Iglesias going down for most of the season. Gotta figure Drew goes to Detroit now.

Vic Black gets pounded every time since he's a Met. This is the guy that Seattle and Arizona asked for for their SS and Sandy boy even though we are loaded with pitching has refused to surrender. I gotta tell you, I am really down on Sandy. I can't figure out what he is doing. I wish he would fill these 3 year old holes at 1st and SS. If you won't have a MLB payroll, than you either make trades or lose 85-90 every year, year after year.

Can they just sink or swim with the young guns in the pen?  I am so tired of this filling out the bullpen with used up arms that inevitably lose games early in the season and accomplish nothing.  It is some kind of smoke screen approach to try and fool the fans into thinking the Mets are some how in a win now mode.  Same goes for the rest of the team.  Give whatever young guys there are a chance and see what happens.  Maybe one or two pan out and are long term answers.  Dice-K, Lannan, Valverde, Young, Jr., are not answers long term.  I sit our here on the West Coast and watch Billy Beane bring in young paler after young player to compete and actually make the roster.  Old bums haven't worked for 3 years, why would that change?

Broke the glove?  That sounds like 'The Natural'.  Would have loved to have seen it!

100 MPH???  Time to send him down and let Farnsworth have his spot!  Any more exposure and he might continue to thrive and we'd risk winning games.

He needs to go down with Meja, Montero & Flores asap or else people might stop laughing at us.

Management has to understand we need to see more DiceK, Chris Young and Lucas Duda.  PLEASE don't even think about bringing Thor up before July either.

The theme of 2014 is all the upside talents need to wait in Vegas while the AAAA guys make sure we're terrible.  It's the natural way...

We are in trouble if Vic Black is our set up man. The guy has not had one decent spring training outing.

Glad to see Gee is diligently working on a solid 1.50-1.60 WHIP for this year. He tightroped out of some serious situations last year because of the unusually high number of walks & hits he gives up over the course of an inning; it's not going to happen this year. I still feel that they should've sold high on him & moved him this past offseason. I completely understand why they didn't move him, but I don't agree with it. They kept him because they were worried about their depth at SP with Harvey gone, but they are running the real risk of him blowing up this year & having another Angel Pagan situation where they hold on to him one year too long & don't get anything of significance for him when they move him. He doesn't have a spot in this rotation beyond this year & even with Harvey gone, I think they would've been better off having Montero, Mejia, or deGrom - all guys better & with higher upside than Gee - take his spot in the rotation this year & hear up for a 2015 run, if there will even be one.

@eric88

Vic pitched very well after the trade last year.

Don't be a noob, and make Spring Training stats into everything you need to know about a player....

@hashburry How go you know Young is not the answer long term? How about letting him play a couple games before you decide that. You do realize if he played a full season last year he ends up with over 20 hr's and 80 RBI's. And he is right behind Lagares defensively. I think it's time Met fans shut up and allow this guy to play and we'll come to a conclusion when the season is over.

@qualcomm  I'm 100% in favor of this plan! of course I live in Las Vegas so it knda works for me and me alone, but let's not allow my selfishness to interrupt what the Mets have going

Murphy doesn't hit enough for 1b. Why would you yank Murphy around after he's finally learned the position?

I'd be okay with that. How do we still have such HUGE questions at first and short and now answers what so ever?

Drew was never coming here, at least we can stop with the near daily posts about him here.

@Kevin Joseph Patrick Its not always about the higher upside kids. Gee rebounded to have a nice year last year. He's established. Not everyone on your staff has to hit 98mph with their fastball to be succesful. I wouldnt considering his WHIP to be "unusually high" be any means. He has a career 1.30 WHIP in the major leagues, with a 3-1 K/BB Ratio in 2013. Sure he gives up a hair over 9 H/9, but he is a solid pitcher, and was more consistent than any Mets starter last year minus the first two months. Again, this is Spring Training, where guys like Gee, who are guaranteed a spot in the rotation, is building arm strength, working on his pitches and command and getting ready for the season. He's looked pretty good this spring. And you want to trade away this guy and add in more question marks?

But some of that pressure Tejada feels comes from all the criticism which Alderson himself has repeatedly directed at Tejada over the last year. Alderson is as much a culprit for ruining this kid's confidence as much as anybody, certainly more so than the media.

Totally agree on the payroll being entirely on the Wilpons. It would make no sense for the general manager not to utilize moneys to spend if he had it, especially with the holes this team has..

@nym68 No no no.. they're all yours. As long as Vegas and Brooklyn are ok, that's all the fans want.

Who cares if u don't get the production from Murphy for a first baseman when you are getting Flores production at 2b which if what we think is true is probably 25 hrs. It's overrated the "he doesn't hit for his position". That is only true if you aren't getting it elsewhere

Hell idc move Wilmer to first then something's gotta give

@methead I love fans they are the biggest hypocrites. Largares needs to play center he can't hit but he's great defensively. Ok so now what your saying is move a guy who lacks defensively at 1st to 1st. Give me a break take you head out of your butt and pick a side.
