Final Score: Astros 3 Mets 1

Tonight at Citi Field, the Mets (57-68) lost to the Astros (39-86) by the score of 3 to 1.

Jon Niese pitched seven innings and let up just three runs, but the Mets offense could only muster four hits (two by David Wright) against Astros starter Jordan Lyles, who entered the game 2-10 with a 5.70 ERA.

The Mets only run was the result of Wright’s 200th home run of his career.

The Mets have lost six in a row, including 15 of their last 17 games at home. It has been a week since the Mets scored more than two runs in a game.

Matthew Cerrone, MetsBlog.com:

I like that the Mets were aggressive tonight on the base paths, but they were gunned down time and time again, whether it was Wright’s double in the corner or Ike Davis at the plate… Nevertheless, they are currently the worst offense in baseball over the last week or so. It’s been brutal. They had the right approach tonight. Hopefully it plays out better tomorrow. Frankly, the only thing you really need to know at this point is if the Marlins beat the Dodgers later tonight in Los Angeles, the Mets will begin tomorrow in last place in the National League East. June seems like a lifetime ago…
