Dana Eveland 2a

Eveland unavailable out of bullpen

Dana Eveland is unavailable out of the bullpen, likely until Friday (Witrado, August 20).

Eveland received a cortisone shot for “tennis elbow,” he said.

He will play catch on Thursday and will likely return to the bullpen on Friday.

Over 23 innings, Eveland has a 3.09 ERA and 1.071 WHIP for the Mets this season.

Why don't they cut him? they need to make a move for deGrom and Colon?

Yes, that is probably what he is saying to them for being given an opportunity to even be on a big league roster. This guy was pitching in Korea last year and had to beg for a spring training invite.  And you're complaining  about the 23 innings they've let him pitch this year?  I get it, it's fun to complain, but sometimes you have at least try to make some sense.

@Gland1 I was speaking for myself... not Dana Eveland.  So many of our pitchers are succumbing to arm, shoulder, elbow injuries.  And, yes, I think our manager and his coaches bear some responsibility.  It is their job to guide and protect these assets, for this year and the future.  Perhaps it is a problem pervasive throughout MLB, but I am more concerned with the NYM staff.

@mesmo @Gland1 You may be upset about "so many of our pitchers" being injured (and in fact there is nothing that indicates our team has more injuries than any other), but Dana Eveland is not a good example of that problem, or something that you should be blaming the coaches about.  That is seriously taking any opportunity to complain.  Dana Eveland is a 30 year old journeyman pitcher who has been in the league for nine years.  He's pitched 23 innings at the big league level.  If he can't handle that workload then he should retire.  Sorry, this is not a legit opportunity for you to place blame.
