Terry Collins said Thursday that rotating Eric Young Jr., Chris Young, Curtis Granderson and Juan Lagares is not a permanent solution.
“I don’t mind it for a while,” Collins said. However, “I think in the long run you’ve got to have three guys you’re going to run out there.”
Eric Young Jr. was not in Thursday’s starting lineup.
“He would be a guy that you’d like to have to come off the bench because of versatility,” Collins said, pointing out that Eric Young Jr. can play all three outfield positions, as well as second base, he can switch hit, provide speed, and be a pinch-hitter late in games. “It’s nice to have those guys over there.”
