In yesterday’s loss to the Phillies, Eric Young Jr. went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
Since joining the Mets, Young has hit .294 with a .368 OBP and .412 SLG with two doubles, four RBI and three strikeouts in 19 plate appearances, all out of the leadoff spot in the lineup.
Young has hit leadoff in 159 games during his career – he has hit .266 with a .329 OBP and .350 SLG in 704 plate appearances out of the leadoff spot.
Overall, the Mets have used nine players in the leadoff spot this season, and collectively have hit .212 with a .265 on-base percentage. What’s worse, they’re hitting just .209 with a .254 on-base percentage in their first at-bat of the game.
