Ruben Tejada 1 (Baron)

Eric Young Jr. in lineup, Tejada, Duda & Ike are not

Eric Young Jr. will hit leadoff today and play left field. He missed the spring’s first four games with a side muscle issue.

Ruben Tejada and Ike Davis continue to be sidelined. Terry Collins said Monday he hoped both would play Tuesday.

Davis is dealing with tight calf muscles, while Tejada is said to have a minor hamstring issue.

Lucas Duda will miss today’s game as he rests a tight left hamstring (Ehalt, Mar. 4). He says it’s nothing serious and he will be back in the lineup in a few days (Carig, Mar. 4).

Collins said Monday that David Wright and Daniel Murphy should play in their first Grapefruit League game toward the end of this week.

Tight calf muscles?  I'm not upset by this, but we do come up with some weird physical ailments.  I've never heard of a guy missing game time for tight calf muscles before.  I wonder if he's walking around the clubhouse like Frankenstein?

Injuries are part of the game and that's why depth is important.  The real problem is the Tejada is number one on our depth chart at SS.

Do any of these guys stretch?  Do we have a strength and conditioning team?  Are our players not seeking advice and/or assistance from them for fear that they will be charged 50% of the bill?

Tejada certainly isn't doing himself any favors.  He seems to have a knack for that.

@anymos It's not just the Mets, it's everywhere in baseball. I think Grenkie had to leave his start due to a calf tightness. It seems to be the "theme" this spring.

@anymos It's early spring so if anything feels off they are just letting them rest is all. If it were mid-season I am sure they'd all be playing.

@Robby Johnson Totally fine with it. Hopefully it forces the Mets' hand and they go out and trade for Franklin or something.
