Before Game 1 of the Mets’ doubleheader on Friday, Eric Young Jr. was scratched with a sore knee.
Young injured his knee on the collision at first base with Tim Hudson earlier this week.
Young says he’s not in any pain and believes he should be available to play this afternoon against the Nationals.
“It felt a lot better today, Young told reporters yesterday. “It’s just a matter of if I needed to explode, or score that run from first, could I give it that all-out that I’m capable of doing. With that question mark, there’s no sense.”
Young has hit .275 with a .351 OBP since joining the Mets in mid-June.
