Dykstra wins Triple-A Home Run Derby

Triple-A Las Vegas 1B/DH Allan Dykstra won the Triple-A Home Run Derby on Monday night in Durham, North Carolina (WRAL, July 15).

Dykstra needed — and hit — just one home run in the final round to come out on top. He hit three home runs in the first round and four in the second round to get to the finals.

This season with Triple-A Las Vegas, Dykstra is hitting .282 with a .428 OBP. He has 12 home runs and 59 RBI in 82 games.

Trade him for something we can use

The Mets will wait till he gets his wheeled walker before they trade him

Now is the time to move him, before he wastes away another year or two, & he ends up in Japan or Korea, and we get nothing for him. If we don't have a spot for him, who DOES? One of the other 29 teams must have a need for a viable Ike/Duda type… especially now that he's elevated his visibility. We have no room for him, so it's important to maximize his chip potential.

He's a left handed hitting first baseman? Don't we already have one of those?

"Dykstra is hitting .282 with a .428 OBP. He has 12 home runs and 59 RBI in 82 games" - and by comparison, Wilmer Flores has .326/12/53 in just 46 games.

Lenny's son. And he's 27, not a prospect. Already have Duda and Soup stabilizing and playing well at 1B, do you really want another 3-headed monster at 1B? Did we forget the Duda/Ike/Satin mess already? Lol

Why hasn't he been brought up to the Mets?

Could we get another picture of him to replace this one? I hate seeing that dumb Yankee cap. lol

So what is it with Dykstra that keeps him off the Mets radar ? He hits for power and walks all the time. I see he Ks a lot but what minor leaguer doesn't ? I'm just trying to understand why he is completely off the Mets radar ..

nothing to do with lenny

He has a degenerative hip condition (like Bo Jackson) that limits his mobility. His future is strictly as a DH. For the Mets he is a trade chip, little more.

The Wilpons have a man crush on Duda. They also love his price tag.

@Kevin McManus He's primarily a first baseman and the Mets are in love with Duda. Hard argument right now the way Duda's hitting recently.
