Dillon Gee 6

Dillon Gee expected to make rehab start Monday or Tuesday

June 19: Terry Collins said Thursday that Dillon Gee will likely make his first rehab start next Monday or Tuesday (Rubin).

Gee, currently on the disabled list with a right lat injury, threw 50 pitches Thursday and said he felt “great” (Ehalt).

It’s expected that Gee will make that start with the Gulf Coast League Mets.

Gee was visiting the team Thursday in Miami.

Dillon Gee, who is working his way back from a strained right lat, threw 32 pitches off the mound Monday for the first time since suffering the injury (Santucci, June 16).

After his mound session, Gee said it was a “great day” and suggested he would throw one more bullpen session before making a rehab start.

It’s been reported that July 1 is a target date for Gee’s return to the Mets rotation.

When Gee returns, Daisuke Matsuzaka will likely shift back to the bullpen.

Gee was placed on the disabled list on May 11 and was initially supposed to throw from the mound on May 26. However, Gee had a slight setback and was backed off his rehab.

Mike F just made a fair comment.  Granted part of it is a result of a poor division, but approx. 2 years after the Marlin's firesale...they are a better team than the Mets.  Even with Harvey out, we have enough pitching to be at least .500. If we could only hit.

Its funny mets are going to probably trade a starter or two or three before the deadline and if they would have only taken care of their lack of offense during the off season these current starters would look that much better... instead they had a couple bad signings and still have no offense so if/when these mets starters are traded to teams that have legit major league talented rosters these guys are going to look that much better.

Wilpons/Sandy have let their fans down big time for the last six years, enough obtaining prospects etc....time to go and get legit major league talent that is both youthful and consistently good as well as healthy.

Michael Conforto the Mets 1st round pick has NOT signed with the Mets. That report is not correct.

I'd trade Colon. Not Niese and not Gee. Both are stabilizing pitchers and our rotation needs them. Everyone else, Harvey, Wheeler, deGrom, Synedergaard are big question marks.

Along with Niese and Colon, one of our best trade chips. I'll hate to see him leave. I hope he makes it to a winning team.

I would keep Daisuke Matsuzaka in the rotation for a while and put Wheeler in the pen. Wheeler will be out of innings by mid August if he stays in the rotation. Either that or go with a six man rotation. No reason to keep Chris Young on the bench.

Seems to be a lot of lat strains for the Mets, maybe training adjustments need to be made?  Merely a flesh wound!

I do to think they are a better team then the mets I think at the end of the season the mets will have a better record then them and the phillies although the marlins are going to be a team to watch out for in 2 or 3 years

Mike good points but I think one of the starters traded will be a young guy. I would think it's Montero or deGrom. These guys have to pitch to show value. I think Colon and Gee are going too. Three pitchers two with proven track records to teams that are in a playoff hunt will get desperate and give up players they probably don't want to.

Where did u see that everyone reported that the reached an agreement

To get something you have to give something. The Mets need offense badly.

@dansince62 Regardless of Wheeler's struggles and his innings limit were relying on him to develop into what he's capable of and sending him the pen sends the wrong message In my humble opinion

No big deal the mets will just take out a $30 loan from mlb to cover the penalties

@borsh13 This is what he tweeted after that report came out "Getting a lot of texts and phone calls asking if I have signed. I have not signed. Still in Redmond with my family and friends" Scott Boras is his agent.

@brrrandoo I still think Wheeler will turn out to be a very good starter. His stuff is that good. He just needs to move his fastball around.

Ouch. Scott Boras. Anybody's worst nightmare. This might get dragged out.

I thought u meant the reports were false not worded improperly... Reaching an agreement in sports is basically the same thing as signing very rare does something go wrong

@borsh13  I'm just saying he has not signed. I think he will, but I want him getting some pro experience as soon as possible
