Dillon Gee 1

Dillon Gee plans to throw from mound on Monday

Dillon Gee, who has been on the disabled list since May 11 with a strained right lat muscle, plans to throw from a mound on Monday for the first time since his injury (Santucci, June 13).

Gee was initially supposed to throw a bullpen session on May 26, but he was backed off his rehab after having a slight setback.

It was reported earlier this week that Gee could begin a rehab assignment on June 23, with the goal of returning to the rotation by July 1.

When Gee is ready to return, it’s likely that he’ll take Daisuke Matsuzaka‘s spot in the rotation, with Matsuzaka shifting back to the bullpen.

if he can come back for july 1, that will give him a month to prove that he is healthy and then they could unload him for some much needed offense
