Dillon Gee on target to be back next weekend

Mets RHP Dillon Gee said on Thursday that he hopes to miss just three starts before returning from the disabled list with a strained lat muscle.

May 25: Gee said he could return without making a rehab start if his bullpen sessions go well (Ehalt, May 25).

Earlier this week, Gee said he intended to make a minor-league rehab start the beginning of next week, which would put him on target to start around June 1.

Gee threw on flat ground at Citi Field on Thursday, he said he is feeling close to 100 percent and plans to throw off a mound today for the first time since his injury.

He has a 2.73 ERA through 52 innings and eight starts this season for the Mets.

10-4 over the next 14 games (which will never happen) would get us to 1 over after basically 40% of the season is over and done with. Wamp waaaaaamp. Time to start talking draft and the trading deadline. Pray for Gee and Niese to light it up over the next 5 weeks.

Cn ANYBODY make 36 starts, throw 250+ innings anymore? Maybe 32 or even 33 and 215 innings? Geez....

Got to get into shape for that forthcoming trade. Too bad. We'll miss him.

Leave deGrom in rotation for now. Montero to pen or farm him out to work on his change. All that great command and control means nothing if he doesn't use the change, along with the slifer and FB. Consider a six man rotation peak summer, when Thor is ready, to help manage workload on the young guys.

More than a few teams may be willing to put up a good package for Gee or Neise, teams needing to refortify their arms, with pressure/expectations to win now: Jays, Angels, Giants, Reds, A's, Braves, Rangers, Orioles, Indians, Royals, Yankees. If Colon can string some solid starts together, he will have a market as well.

In other words, both Gee and Niese have to remain healthy because they are destined to become salary dumps.

Favorable schedule over the next 15 games.  Gee Comes back, Soup energized team.  More Flores... a turnaround can be coming.

feel like deGrom needs to stay in the rotation and Montero to the bullpen

Cant wait to watch Terry bumble through shuffling the rotation once Gee gets back..

we have a bunch of games in a row so you know he's going 6 man rotation at least twice through.. then he'll look to sandy to tell him what to do.

You guys really need someone to proofread and edit the post. Just saying.

@Steven Matregrano i don't know if I agree.  Will it really be a more interesting team by beating up on a few weak teams(assuming that even happens because we too are a mediocre team)

We beat up on Arizona a while back and look what happened after that.....this is not an interesting team

@dylan94  Moving Montero to the pen diminishes his trade value, plus doesn't give us the rotation protection for when the next guy goes down.

We aren't very good either, so it evens out.

Or, you could just own up and say, oops my bad and move on.  Because if you say 14, and then skip something for 11, that's on you, not me.  I shouldn't have to do research to figure out your post (and you could just as easily have mistyped the 11 as 14 as opposed to skipping the cubs).
