Dice-K to stay behind, visit team doctor

Daisuke Matsuzaka (elbow) will stay in New York to visit team doctors this week, Terry Collins said after Sunday’s game.

Matsuzaka (3-3, 4.21, 1 save, 3 holds) went on the disabled list July 26 with an inflamed elbow and returned to the Mets this past Thursday.

He allowed three runs and four hits, including a homer, in 2/3 of an inning against the Braves. This past Saturday, he allowed one run on one hit and two walks in two innings against the Phillies. He struck out two.

Dice-k going up and down, repeating injuries... nothing new. This was completely predictable from the moment we signed him. He should be playing in Japan, not in the majors at this point.

One month to go in yet another disappointing season. Why did we bring him back? Why does he remain on the roster?
