Davis and Duda hit again, still not running bases

Mets first basemen Ike Davis (calf) and Lucas Duda (hamstring) got at-bats in a minor-league intrasquad game at Tradition Field on Saturday.

Again, both were designated hitters, did not play the field and they were not allowed to run the bases.

Terry Collins later said he hopes to get Duda into a Grapefruit League game by Monday or Tuesday (Vorkunov, Mar. 15).

my feelings has always been, as long as guys are wearing mets uniforms and trying, i'll never speak badly about them! i've been a met fan since 62! lets all root for them, and if they leave still, they're all trying to make a living just like all of us. I may not root for them, but still will NEVER PUT THEM DOWN! I'm from good ole brooklyn!

Just for a change of pace, I think Duda wins the first base job and hits .270 25 hrs and 80 rbi.

Spring training 2013: holes at shortstop and first base.

Spring training 2014: holes at shortstop and first base.

Spring training 1015: need it be said?

Mets up 3-1 I believe right now against the Cubs in Vegas, Who started for the Mets today?

If I never see the names Ike Davis, Duda, Tejada or Drew ever again I will be a happy man. They all need to go away forever. I actually cannot wait until July....by then the mets will be long done and the NFL will just be getting into full swing.

Double trouble, for Mets fans. We need a nickname for these two clowns. Cerrone, there's a new job for you. Come up with a nickname for these two worthless, mentally inept, soft, no talent hacks. I say we play Ike in Vegas all year and see if he can challenge Crash Davis HR record. Maybe Duda can work as a security guard to stop outraged fans from pillaging Jeff Wilpons office. I see no other use for these guys.

Any links to the 4 O'clock game?

Dom Smith got a hit in action today, if you were watching the game was a dribbler up the middle.  But, still nice to see a 1B in our organization that is ACTUALLY decent and could be something special... (Sad thing is, he'd probably be a better option right now than Duda OR Ike.)

These two need to go.

No need to thank me for this keen insight into the obvious.

I'm no Peter Gammons, but they need to be able to run the bases, no?

So the mets have set themselves up to fail at SS/1b already as we head into the 2014 season. Two guys who probably shouldn't even be competing for a 1b spot are now hurt and not getting the 100 or so at bats mets wanted to find out if they are capable (not that the mets even care) they continue to be cheap and willing to put a subpar product on the field. I mean Tejada wouldn't even be in the running for a backup job on any other team based on his play, Ike/Duda they probably would both be part time players unless they were on a team that could handle their unknown offensive production.. mets can't and thus once again they will probably struggle for runs and be inconsistent on offense which will make them lose the close games.

This article lacks the most important thing. Did they make contact, or continue to whiff?

@Mike DeRosa You want them to actually add in information that people want to know?  That would actually take work.
