David Wright still leads ASG voting, Murphy way behind

David Wright has just two hits in his last 49 plate appearances, but continues to lead the NL All-Star voting at the third base, according to results provided by MLB.

Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval is closing the gap, with Wright now leading by less than 100,000 votes.

Seeing David's numbers at the beginning of the game will be pretty embarrassing.

should have traded david when he had better trade value. what's the difference if he is on the mets if they aren't winning either way? oh i forgot, stupid jersey sales and a ticket sales drawer for idiots.

I'd rather see deGrom.  He's been much more impressive.  Both on the mound and with the bat.

Wright is what?  2 for his last 38.......

Fans are idiots.

This just underscores how bad the Mets team really is.  Daniel Murphy is probably the only position player whom the Mets MIGHT get equal value for in a trade.  I doubt that Duda, Tejada, Young, Young would start on any other major league roster.  Granderson and Wright are untradeable because of their contracts.  Lagares has value but  would you get anything more than a prospect?

They could double the number of players on the All-Star team before a Met would make it on merit.

Wright has no business making the All-Star team.

All star voting has become a complete travesty. It's a popularity contest, nothing more, nothing less. Fans get to see who they want, which is good for the fans and maybe that's what it's about. But it's no longer an All Star Game. It's just watching the favorite flavors of the day game.

I'm "like" David Wright as a player, but I'm far from the President of his fan club. He seems to always be compared to Pablo Sandoval, at least in All Star voting.

Historically, Wright is WAY better. However, this year it's the reverse. Sandoval has outproduced him by a lot this year. Wright just doesn't deserve it this year.

Murphy on the other hand, DOES deserve it for sure. Hopefully, when they have to take 1 player from the Mets, they put politics aside and take Murphy this year.

Lets make lemonade... Make sure to vote for Chris Young on your All Star Ballots. If we can stuff the ballot box with him, the rest of he country will get to see what he has to offer. The Mets will release him to escape the embarrassment.

Wright doesn't really deserve the ASG start this year.

@11gilkey Couldn't agree more.  If he were not in NYC he wouldn't even get consideration

@mesmo And, ironically, Murph probably DOES deserve it but has almost no chance at it.

It's a crummy time to be a Mets fan.
